thesewoodenideas
Shiny Beast are sending a whole replacement record - with the vinyl shipped outside of the sleeve! If anyone wants my old copy with the tear, I'll send it out to anyone in the UK who covers postage. If this is still available I'm interested. Messaged you. jackholexxxx
Got my Bleep order today. Poor packaging. The mailer was about half the thickness of an Amazon mailer. Definitely not suitable for international shipments. It ended up with a couple of bent corners. The good news is they shipped the record outside the jacket so no seam splits. slinch
Nope, shinybeast.nl. They sent it outside the cover, so the cover is mint, heh. Waiting to hear back from them.
yarostino
oh crap, haha. i wonder how that happened... i remember their packaging was pretty good. crossing my fingers that it'll get solved for you!
andi
Shiney packed the record in bubblewrap, put it in a mailer and wrapped the mailer with bubblewrap too. came in perfect condition.
Rip
TurntableLab ignored my comment about shipping the record outside of the jacket so it came with a seam split of course... Oh well, it's not a real bad one. Can't really complain seeing as I got it about $10 cheaper than other places I saw.
weededout
Mine came from Bleep in perfect condition - record outside of the cover even though i did not request it.

jhulud
FINALLY! No damage whatsoever. Well. Outside of the unsettling scuffs on one side of the record. No seam splits. No dinged corners. Record itself was mailed outside of jacket. And if you ask me, this screams bootleg.
shifres
I agree it does scream bootleg, however, I didn't know officially dignified shops were supporting bootlegs so openly, it's weird.
Number11
Two more versions of the soundtrack seem to be coming out (Likely more bootlegs). http://www.normanrecords.com/records/147694-geinoh-yamashirogumi-akira-original-motion-picture-soundtrack http://www.normanrecords.com/records/147693-geinoh-yamashirogumi-akira-original-motion-picture-soundtrack
oojavaguru
Two more versions of the soundtrack seem to be coming out (Likely more bootlegs). http://www.normanrecords.com/records/147694-geinoh-yamashirogumi-akira-original-motion-picture-soundtrack (1LP) http://www.normanrecords.com/records/147693-geinoh-yamashirogumi-akira-original-motion-picture-soundtrack (2LP) The thing that made me at least want to buy the original version was that it was through Binyl, which is a Japanese Label and the label the CD soundtrack was originally released on. So even though it screamed bootleg, at least its origins were somewhat authentic. These 2 new ones you've linked to, just make me have even more questions on the authenticity of these releases. And why even make just a single LP version of this soundtrack? Maybe if these continue to sell (which they appear to be doing well), then we can get someone from Binyl to authorize and release a complete vinyl edition that is official. jhulud
If the horrible cover on that 2xLP doesn't scream bootleg, I don't know what does.
maximuss
last copy for sale looked al lot more original then these ones.
slinch
last copy for sale looked al lot more original then these ones. Minus the weird scratchings in the dead wax...
Rip
I wish the 2xLP cover didn't look like a little kid drew it. I'd be really tempted to grab it if it was different.

natenomm
So is there actually a legitimate pressing of this soundtrack or is everything a bootleg?
themightychew
I read through this thread when trying to find out information about these 're-released' Akira LPs, so felt it was only right to post the response from Geinoh Yamashirogumi for posterity: "-----Original Message----- From: Geinoh Yamashirogumi [mailto:[email protected]]Sent: 06 August 2014 11:37To: Jason Cc: [email protected]Subject: Re:Akira LP bootlegs Mr. Jason Thank you very much for letting us know about the illegal AKIRA LPs. We have been aware of these illegal copies and already have notified the company in Japan managing our copyrights. Your information is precious and we will inform the copyright managing company of additional sites. Thank you again for your kind mail. With best regards, Geinoh Yamashirogumi " So, for the UK at least, if you purchased from any of these sites then you have a bootleg: http://boomkat.com/vinyl/1073102-geinoh-yamashirogumi-akira-ost https://bleep.com/release/50614-geinoh-yamashirogumi-akira-original-soundtrack http://www.normanrecords.com/records/147694-geinoh-yamashirogumi-akira-original-motion-picture-soundtrack http://www.piccadillyrecords.com/prod/GeinohYamashirogumi-AkiraOST-Binyl-96098.html http://www.resident-music.com/productdetails&product_id=30778 http://www.banquetrecords.com/VJ1001DLP;jsessionid=CB19C46B7B37D5157490EBC3E9D2DADB http://www.juno.co.uk/products/geinoh-yamashirogumi-akira-soundtrack/536433-01/ Just for info, I asked if they were official or not. It was Geinoh Yamashirogumi that responded with the term 'illegal'. Cheers.
