  1. Man, no question, and you don't even need to talk about its context and what that music did and meant in the early-mid 60s. Those songs are fucking great, then and now.
  2. Oh boy, there are some very cool opinions in this thread. Good thing all that overrated bubblegum Beatles crap is over and we now have real, honest, and edgy music like The Gaslight Anthem and Masked Intruder.
  3. Not sure what the big deal is, but I'm pretty glad to hear this record is good.
  4. "Growing up in a working-class neighborhood in America in the 1980s involved all kinds of promises," Hause tells Rolling Stone. "If you believe in this God, if you go to this school, if you work hard, if you are a good person. . . you could seemingly have it all. Seeing what those promises and expectations really shook out to be for so many people is a very different scenario than what was hoped for. This song is for those people." Yes. Nice to see a songwriter breaking new ground... Good song though.
  5. That whole "don't ask Toby about variants" thing is nonsense. it's not like people already have a dozen copies of Chamberlain Waits and are just trying to collect them all so they can stare at them. Most people are buying it for the first time, probably, BECAUSE they love it and listen to it and it's a great record that has only seen a comparatively limited release so far. No reason to grandstand because some people want to know more info about it.
  6. Are the two Chamberlain presses identical? I looked at both of mine next to each other last week and couldn't find a single difference, although I didn't look at the matrix numbers so I guess that would be it. By the way, I find it really surprising how these flew under the radar so much until they were available.
  7. People didn't actually pay and lose money on this, right?
  8. The white/red looks great, really happy with it. Solid job, RFC! Haven't played it yet, but this record has grown on me immensely, can't wait to spin it.
  9. Alright, good to know. In any event, this record has grown on me a lot since the first listen. You guys are definitely killing it recently.
  10. Right, ok. It makes a lot more sense that I would just make that up for no reason. Want me to just post the email?
  11. Got shipping confirmation on a different order yesterday and he noted that these would be shipping in "a few weeks."
  12. Got this as well. I have the blue RSD original, but didn't get the black at the time. Always wish I did, something about the quality of the blue has always bugged me. Love this record so much, felt good to buy it again regardless.
  13. Don't immediately like this as much as I thought I would. Ordered blindly after hearing that Summer track when it came out. Only listened once, though, and I have a feeling it will grow on me. Still glad I've got it coming. Those Turnover and Daylight records, though...holy shit are those good.
  14. You're aware that vinyl LPs weren't created by some DIY punk label in the 90s, right?
  15. Jumping in real quick to back Black Numbers hard. Great label. This is obviously just a cursed release, from that time when Dave pissed in that old Native American cemetery. But hey, shit happens, and I'm betting they'll make it right for all y'all as best they can.
  16. Yeah, although totally different, I think these actually look a lot better than the clear/whatever mock-ups on the website. I might have to pick up the grey one at the release show.
  17. Hang on, this has nothing to do with just "going to shows" unless the only reason you go to shows is to score exclusive merch. This is about bringing crazed collector mentality to an atmosphere that is only supposed to be about hanging out and enjoying music. It's like saying "this is the reason I hate going to record stores" after hearing somebody's RSD horror story. I don't fault the bands for it and obviously this guy is just a jerkoff, but this nonsense is bound to happen. It's still totally possible to enjoy a band live without getting caught up in this worthless "gotta have it" bullshit.
  18. This is so mind-blowing. People would hang this on their wall?? Friend: Hey man, nice apartment. Oh, Gatsby, I love that book! Nice wall piece! You: Yeah, it's got nothing to do with the book, though. That's the soundtrack to the movie that just came out!! Friend: ...Oh. The one with Tobey Maguire? Alright. Is it any good? You: Not sure. I don't want to play it because it's literally made from precious metals to document the monumental importance of this film! But it does have Fergie and will.i.am on it, along with movie dialogue, so you know, it's probably not a total piece of dogshit. [Friend left mid-way through the previous sentence].
  19. Or you could save $12 + whatever shipping to use toward something else and just buy one of the other two colors that are still available. I know it's fun to have limited stuff, but shit if my wallet hasn't told me to draw the line before.
  20. I can't tell if the logos for this movie are supposed to be art deco or steampunk.
