  1. This is the best review of The Phantom Menace I've seen: "Have you guys ever heard of this movie called The Phantom Menace? It's so crazy. The movie's all about these two eunuch knights who have to protect a stuffy and mean Geisha girl from an army of lego robots. On the way they find this kid who can barely put a sentence together, but has impressive control over machinery. He falls in love with the Geisha girl and decides to become a eunuch knight, though the whole eunuch thing gives him pause. Meanwhile, they also become friends with a Rastafarian frog. It's insane!" Anyway, this release (well, allegedly) is still amazingly odd to me. The fact that it's being put out (well, allegedly) on a relatively unknown label, the fact that it is not big news elsewhere (I don't think), and the fact that in light of the above, the pressing numbers are HUGE. I mean it's not like this is some cult film that only a handful of nerds would want a soundtrack for. I'll be half-shocked when this ends up coming out.
  2. Anybody with a disposable income looking for the Aussie variant: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RESTORATIONS-LP2-Blue-Swirl-Australian-Exclusive-100-Sealed-Gaslight-Anthem-/121098855199?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1c320de31f
  3. How does that pressing of Sgt. Peppers sound? I have a bunch of 45s from the 60s/70s on red or blue, and I think they're the reason a lot of people still say that colored vinyl sounds like shit.
  4. Hey, thanks for the reminder. I've been meaning to pick this up for a long time, and kept forgetting. Would have been bummed if I ended up missing it. The covers are great and it looks awesome.
  5. A lot of people will buy this. You won't be one of them, and neither will I nor some other people. That's it. Move on.
  6. This album is ridiculously good, as expected. Decided to take the bus to Philly on Friday and catch the release show. And fuck yes to that Menzingers tour. What a bill.
  7. If you're a huge fan or an obsessive completist, I don't think this price is that outrageous. If it was just a simple rehash of the originals, then it would definitely be a clunker. But some of these songs have never been put to vinyl, the sleeves are pretty cool looking, and you get a box to do...something with. That said, I can't imagine anybody buying this and then playing these more than once or twice. It's kind of a pointless purchase, but as those go, I've seen worse.
  8. Dickhead? Alright.. Should have said you wish you knew if I was being sincere or not, though. Blew it.
  9. Stop complaining about the fan club 7". You do know that there was a Beatles set released in the fall, right? All vinyl is backed up for twenty years.
  10. Ha good one, gkersey. I totally believed for a minute that Side One Dummy is planning to release a moderately priced set of Gaslight Anthem 7"s featuring some studio tracks backed by outtakes and live recordings. HAHA APRIL FOOLS!!! Great prank. "Not sure that this isn't a troll," I mean, really..
  11. The proce is definitely not THAT bad when broken out, but it's a ton of money considering that would be an essentially pointless purchase. Unless you're a completist with money to burn, there's not much value here. A single 12" with the B-sides, on the other hand, might have been cool.
  12. I will assume that this is going to cost way more than necessary. It would probably be worth it to buy all the originals on eBay if you don't have them. I'm pretty sure most of these don't go for all that much, except maybe Old White Lincoln? Been awhile since I looked.
  13. Generally, I think when you put things into a box, you should ensure that the contents are neither so loose as to cause excessive movement and risk damage nor so tight that there is excessive pressure on the items inside. It is also important to note that the weight of the box after the contents have been added can be adjusted entirely based on personal levels of comfort. This is a trial and error sort of situation, and you will need to find your limit with the box before you know whether or not you will be able to easily move it later on. In the event that you decide one of the boxes is too heavy, make sure you have another one handy so that you can remove contents from the first and have a place to put them! Good luck with the move.
  14. Yep. And even that one had its "uhh..." moments. I pretend they stopped being a band after that one.
  15. If you're vigilant enough and really want it, you can pretty easily get one on eBay for about $30. That said, most of the ones that go for that price are green and based on the terrible job they did pressing those, I'd be careful if you go that route.
  16. It is indeed a great cover of a fantastic Petty song. When I say great, I basically mean that it's faithful and not overdone. I'd love to hear Gaslight do Southern Accents as well. I know exactly what it would sound like, but it would be pretty good.
  17. Definitely a really cool looking record, but I think the other three go better with the artwork. Seems like a great package all around. This album is top 5 for the year, guaranteed already.
  18. You are both correct. No time like the present...to buy a present....ya know, for yourself.
  19. Like everything this band has put out so far, this record is just too good. These guys are the real deal.
