This is the best review of The Phantom Menace I've seen: "Have you guys ever heard of this movie called The Phantom Menace? It's so crazy. The movie's all about these two eunuch knights who have to protect a stuffy and mean Geisha girl from an army of lego robots. On the way they find this kid who can barely put a sentence together, but has impressive control over machinery. He falls in love with the Geisha girl and decides to become a eunuch knight, though the whole eunuch thing gives him pause. Meanwhile, they also become friends with a Rastafarian frog. It's insane!" Anyway, this release (well, allegedly) is still amazingly odd to me. The fact that it's being put out (well, allegedly) on a relatively unknown label, the fact that it is not big news elsewhere (I don't think), and the fact that in light of the above, the pressing numbers are HUGE. I mean it's not like this is some cult film that only a handful of nerds would want a soundtrack for. I'll be half-shocked when this ends up coming out.

Anybody with a disposable income looking for the Aussie variant: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RESTORATIONS-LP2-Blue-Swirl-Australian-Exclusive-100-Sealed-Gaslight-Anthem-/121098855199?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1c320de31f

what was the first notable vinyl 'variant'?

How does that pressing of Sgt. Peppers sound? I have a bunch of 45s from the 60s/70s on red or blue, and I think they're the reason a lot of people still say that colored vinyl sounds like shit. -

Probably the Gaslight Anthem's first record. -
Hey, thanks for the reminder. I've been meaning to pick this up for a long time, and kept forgetting. Would have been bummed if I ended up missing it. The covers are great and it looks awesome.

This album is ridiculously good, as expected. Decided to take the bus to Philly on Friday and catch the release show. And fuck yes to that Menzingers tour. What a bill.

If you're a huge fan or an obsessive completist, I don't think this price is that outrageous. If it was just a simple rehash of the originals, then it would definitely be a clunker. But some of these songs have never been put to vinyl, the sleeves are pretty cool looking, and you get a box to do...something with. That said, I can't imagine anybody buying this and then playing these more than once or twice. It's kind of a pointless purchase, but as those go, I've seen worse.

Moving Vinyl Collection Help
mr. sincere replied to tsostarich's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Generally, I think when you put things into a box, you should ensure that the contents are neither so loose as to cause excessive movement and risk damage nor so tight that there is excessive pressure on the items inside. It is also important to note that the weight of the box after the contents have been added can be adjusted entirely based on personal levels of comfort. This is a trial and error sort of situation, and you will need to find your limit with the box before you know whether or not you will be able to easily move it later on. In the event that you decide one of the boxes is too heavy, make sure you have another one handy so that you can remove contents from the first and have a place to put them! Good luck with the move. -
PO: Alkaline Trio - My Shame Is True + EP

Yep. And even that one had its "uhh..." moments. I pretend they stopped being a band after that one. -
Any plans for a Dealing With Depression LP? That record is so good.

PO: The Menzingers - On The Possible Past
mr. sincere replied to veggiecorecords's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
If you're vigilant enough and really want it, you can pretty easily get one on eBay for about $30. That said, most of the ones that go for that price are green and based on the terrible job they did pressing those, I'd be careful if you go that route. -
Definitely a really cool looking record, but I think the other three go better with the artwork. Seems like a great package all around. This album is top 5 for the year, guaranteed already.

Like everything this band has put out so far, this record is just too good. These guys are the real deal.
