Just watched the video from Letterman. Between that and the Vintage Vinyl show last Saturday, all I can say is that I think this band has finally reached a level of songwriting and performance where getting Alex L some vocal lessons would be a worthy investment.

I find it really disrespectful to Jesse and the guys that you all would even joke around such an important record.

Once again, just because somebody doesn't like that noodly stuff, doesn't mean they don't get it or don't appreciate the musicianship that goes into it. It just means they don't like it. I think Trey is an incredible musician, maybe one of the best of our time. Cannot stand a single song the man has ever written. But I have awful taste in your cool guy opinion, so it doesn't matter what I think.

And about Ryan being into that stuff back then, I actually didn't mind the jammy stuff in 2005, even though it's definitely not my thing. I thought it was pretty good at the shows and Ryan ripped some awesome guitar work for those Cold Roses and JCN songs. I found it interesting to watch. Neal, not so much. The songwriting was nowhere up to the level it was in 2005 after he joined the band. And I know that's mostly on Ryan (which he obviously realized when he fired the Cardinals) but once again, if you go back to what was said at the time, Ryan used to talk endlessly about Neal's influence on his songwriting. And if you compare the Cardinology era stuff with some of the crap on Neal's records and what Ryan used to let him play at the shows, it's quite obvious that was the case.

Sorry you can't deal with somebody's opinion that Neal's boring as fuck, but it would be cool if you could grow up with your responses.

I've no doubt it will be different, but he's been talking up monumental changes in the band's sound since American Slang and in the end, it always basically sounds like Gaslight, just a little worse each time.

This is really excellent. Nice job not giving up, and I hope that kid gets what he deserves even if you don't press charges. Makes sense that it was a kid, too. I doubt some grown man working in a home would decide to risk stealing records from bands he knows nothing about, on the off chance that he figures he could make 100 bucks at a pawn shop.

Also, that extra $10 a month on your insurance, though shitty, might be worth the peace of mind in the future.

This sounds like a pretty knee jerk reaction.

I've listened a few times now. It's a little more polished, a little more mainstream in its songwriting maybe, and the lyrical content is a bit more "mature" or something (can't put my finger on it but there's definitely a difference in the lyrics). But aside from ridiculous expectations, if you liked the last one, you should find plenty to like here.

Agree that there is nothing on here like Casey, though. Or Time Tables, if I want to be a real jerk about it ha.

I'm definitely in the minority, but I won't. These should not be priced as collectors items. They're records, and they're the same records that used to cost $10 through Epitaph mailorder and in stores (including Hot Topic). OK, that was 10-15 years ago, but has that much really changed that these need to cost $23?? Fine if so, but I'm curious as to why. Because people want them? Because the originals are sought after? Because the vinyl is now on cool colors instead of boring black?

This just seems really out of control. In a way, I can't blame some record labels for getting in on the game, now that they're finally able to cash in a little bit on these bands since their fans are finally adults with jobs. It just sucks that "making records available again" now actually means squeezing the pockets of the people who want them most.

EDIT: Also, I just defined capitalist market theory in a thread about NOFX records. My early college self is spinning in his grave.
