I think the setup you have now is fine. I dont think anyone was bitching, just suggesting ideas.
I'll also throw my vote towards Blue Album, though I have never heard it, I hate every other album on the list

A lot of the fans need a good "Fuck you" every once in a while.
I talked to a guy wearing a Tool shirt one time who was convinced that listening to Tool before he went to sleep would unlock unconscious thoughts that would expand his brainpower ten-fold.

Fucking stoked for Chevelle. Hate me. Not a huge fan of Wonder What's Next, but this is awesome.
Point #1 is made for vinyl though. Never got pressed, and probably never will.
Could not care less for Lit or Switchfoot, though...

Personally, I'd go to Goodwill or someplace similar and find a tape deck for cheap. It'll be a noticeable improvement over a portable player. Just make sure it works before you walk out the door with it.
