And as for the Edmiston eyes releases, I wish I would have known those we're going to be hard to buy as I could have easily grabbed extras....I grabbed a set on Sunday and saw a stack so I figured he made a bunch. Glad I decided to pick them up for the mass eyes framing project coming soon. I did get some time to speak to Mr.Edmiston and finally glad to meet him in person and thank him for his beautiful designs. Good luck everyone on the upcoming drops....
 

I'm cautiously optimistic about the Tool reissues. From the sounds of things they aren't well underway, and Adam Jones has been taking thoughts from lots of people at SHTV including myself and seems to be really noting the information/recommendations. Lots of recommendations for 5.1 which would be aces, but he's a vinyl fan and he's heard a lot of feedback on how to do vinyl properly so hopefully they'll be involved and ensure the remasters are treated with care and not just "180g audiophile whoo hooo yay" marketing BS.
 
He has liked a lot of the posts supplying insightful information...I recommended using a mastering house that can cut and master in an all analogue chain and suggested: i) Bernie Grundman Mastering (either Bernie or Chris Bellman would be fine) ii) AcousTech / Cohearent Audio (Kevin Gray or Steve Hoffman with Kevin Gray) and iii) Sterling Sound (Ryan K. Smith who took over from George Marino and now masters in George's old room, Ryan was his protege)

I would easily buy both AAA 2LP vinyl release for stereo and Blu-ray for 5.1 of any of the Tool albums...cost is no barrier when it comes to these works of art.

 

I would have 100% waited, especially since the PO yesterday bit into another PO that I missed out on. Friggin' hobby and money and shit.

This is the same way mine arrived. Outer box was mashed to shit but inside stayed ok and also can report spine has a crease!
HAHAHA! TOO FUNNY! It is 1000 times better than the original version that arrived months ago. Now I just will wait for the other releases to hit my local shop. Already have originals of everything so just want to get new clean copies while I can. They finally came through but could learn a lot from sound stage direct or elusive disc when it comes to shipping and packing properly.

Good job lads. I think this might be the first time OP didn't throw a tantrum after a bit of light comedy. I'm guessing his German "windex" is probably much closer to being safe to use than ours. Actual windex is full of chemicals that just stick inside the grooves and dry. Ruining the record.

Btw, I asked Mo what happened to Portal. He says it's gonna happen but they've hit a snag though he wouldn't divulge what it was clearly. Also asked him if they were gonna do a Samurai Jack theme song 7". He says he wants to as well but CN has been harder to work with apparently.

No but thank you for the reminder to watch! Now I have something to do tonight! Been waiting for this to air!

This is pretty fair. Hell I've spent way more than $80 on things way worse (not just records)
 
Packaging bummers aside, it's a one time only pressing of oddities that's only for hardcore fans. Sure it's a massive pressing and hardcore fans deserve a bit more imo. But I'm not bothered by the release in any meaningful way. I can't explain exactly why, but if it'd been The Fragile proper I'd be way more upset. I'm not defending it, but it's just that my ass isn't chapped about it.
 
It seriously sounds phenomenal, so I'm happy. If the pressing quality is any indication of how TDS and The Fragile are going to sound, I'm ecstatic.

Maybe they should have done a deluxe 'The Fragile' reissue 7 LP boxset that included Deviations with expanded artwork, proper box etc and charged $150 - $200 for it. I'm sure it would have still sold a bunch of copies. 
 
$80 for Deviations on its own is pretty steep for what you are getting.

I can take pics tomorrow. This is not a standard gatefold. The spine is about 3/4" wide, each sleeve of the gatefold is double wide, leaving ample room for the 2 records and avoiding ringwear.
There's no lettering on the spine at all, just the colors/layout of the jacket.
It's actually not too bad. The inside of the gatefold sleeves are finished also.

It was shipped in a standard mailer with no padding. DON'T CUT THROUGH THE TAPE/BOX when opening it. You will slice right into the jacket. Hopefully none of you open anything like that anyway, but I feel the need to warn you all.

Nevermind now. Tracking updated overnight and now showing that it will be delivered on Monday 7/3. I knew it was too good to be trued. Seems like that Jersey City hub is like a blackhole for USPS.
 

My copies turned up today. Everything looks great, really pleased to finally own these! 
 
Just spinning DOD now, and it sounds brilliant. Very clear, exactly what I expected given how the Black Friday BNW sounded. Will report back on the others when I get a chance to spin them tomorrow!

That Castlevania 4 cover art is absolutely heinous. Why couldn't they just use the original game box art which was awesome?
                                                                   
 

But can we say how awesome it is that they are only charging $19.99 for a 2xlp that's most likely 180g and pressed at Pallas? That's pretty much my go-to release right there: simple, black, 180g, pressed at Pallas, good price. Boom. Don't need any bells and whistles, fancy variants, insane packaging, etc. Just give me a good sounding album. 

33 packages in...and finally they have reached what I always hoped for in a vault package.
There has been lots of really good packages, this is by far the best (IMO).
So yes everyone please sign back up and hopefully they will catch on that this what people want instead of live record after live record.
