My first listen kinda just washed over me. Second listen I really felt like I enjoyed it more. It feels more like Intersections to me than Standards (which is a good thing as I thought Standards was a bit of a drop in quality, awesome drums aside) and is arriving at a perfect time of year coming into Autumn/Winter.
 
Oh, and the packaging is awesome. It's a proper bulky gatefold, and the BSM pressing came out beautifully.

So hyped! Went for the the clear on recordstore.co.uk for now.

Went for the cream/green splatter on BSM. Even took the rare step of ordering the white t-shirt bundle, although now I'm concerned people will think I'm called Owen.

The whole Stress EP is killer.  Undoubtedly Tycho.  Finally.
 
Not that I’m complaining in the least, but does anyone else feel like this is damage control of the best kind?  Tycho has consistently taken 2-5 years to release a new album, and we’re already getting an entirely separate “companion” album a few months after Weather dropped?  If there was always a plan to release an “accompanying record”, from the get-go, wouldn’t Scott & gang have mentioned that at some point?
 
Weather is a fine record.  It’s fun.  It’s breezy.  But it’s hardly Tycho.  While I totally respect the band for wanting to branch out and do something completely new, they seemed to get completely shit on.  YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook comments for any of the singles or album links were just bombarded with “hey this is nice but lose the vocals”.  I recall reading some posts where Scott was defending the artistic direction, but right after those tapered out, it seems like everyone had more or less “forgotten” about Weather.  I don’t think it left even half the impact the band was hoping for.  It sounds like this new album is going to be giving the people what they want after no shortage of arm-twisting on social media.  Anyone else feel similar or am I just imagining it all?

Will be released on January 24th 2020 under Triple Crown Records. One song even featuring Kyle of Pianos Become the Teeth. First single Flowers of Light with b-side Barfly is up on Spotify at midnight.

I've ordered this variant, but the picture of it in Discogs looks like ass compared to the mock-up. Hoping my copy turns out better.

One of those mornings where you unexpectedly drop half a hundred bucks before you’re even out of bed, but you’re not even mad about it.

Amazon are usually pretty good at fulfilling an order even if there's a pricing error. I got Sufjan's Silver & Gold vinyl boxset for £14 as a preorder before the price went up to about £80.

Super cheap on Amazon UK, says 8.20 pounds but at checkout it was even less and came out to like 9.91 pounds shipped to the US ($12.50ish USD)

Also went for the BSM /200 splatter. Really looking forward to this as I very much enjoyed LP2.
