I'm frequently amazed at how lenient people can be about this stuff.  particularly in a marketplace based on an online forum that really requires mutual trust to function.
 
I get that the unexpected can happen, but if somebody is actively marketing goods that they either do not have or otherwise have zero intention to deliver in a timely manner, it's nothing less than fraud and should be treated accordingly. 
 
The fact that some people are claiming to have received refunds is NOT exculpatory--it is damning.
 
What makes it even worse is that this dude seems to have a pretty extensive collection that he could be liquidating legitimately if he was hard up for funds.  Are plastic disks really worth more than your integrity?  Pathetic.

Hey all,
I have been researching, for the past two weeks, different receivers and integrated amplifiers. My first question is, would you stay away from receivers all together vs an integrated amp? I need to buy some source of input/output for my record player and speakers, as I am new to the vinyl community. What do yall reccomend? My price range is hopfully under $200, but just shoot me something within that ball park.

After 1.5 years of living off savings acct, student handouts, and driving Uber, I've moved and started my new position at Baylor. I sold too much gear to survive. I'm currently left with my Rotel RA1062 and DacMagic.
 
I want to go simple. I want an integrated amp that has a Dac and phono stage. I have two current contenders...
 
Marantz PM7005 ($1k, though used/refurb $750) and Paraound Halo integrated ($2.5k). The Halo is what I want... but $2.5k is a tough one to swallow. I haven't really seen any used so far.
 
Anyone have any other insights? I'd like to stay under $2k. This will be driving my Sonus Faber 1.5s, and used for everything.

You aren't required to use the onboard preamp.  You can always upgrade later to an external phono preamp and simply plug it into one of the other line level inputs, but I think you'd be looking in the $300+ range to find an upgrade unless you need MC capabilities.
 
That said.  I am still using the onboard preamp on my PM8004.  I believe it pulls its weight with my other gear:

Almost any review you read on the Marantz PM8xxx line will stress that the phono stage is NOT just a throwaway inclusion.  I think that the lack of a digital input such as the one included in integradeds a lower in the line (PM7005 and PM6005) kind of drives that point home.
 
For reference, I'm thinking that my next move might be to try a Clearaudio Nano V2 as my next upgrade

about a year ago, Music Direct was offering the TT 15S1 as a B-stock for $1000 and I couldn't resist.  A few of us picked them up back then.
 
Another plug for the PM800x is that it has a really handy Power Amp only mode.  This allows you to completely defeat the preamp section and integrate it into something like a home theater setup to drive your front speakers and then swap back to a pure stereo setup without messing with any cables or having the AV receiver in the loop mucking things up.

Nice. that cream color is one of my favorites and unusual to find on a lefty.  I'd be tempted to throw a mint green or tortise shell pick guard on that.
