ntslash got a reaction from DC1221 in Annoying remarks on Discogs/eBay
Is this really true about Discogs? Almost everything I want from Discogs is from a European seller with outrageous US shipping.

ntslash got a reaction from Hairy Potter in PO: The Rural Alberta Advantage-Mended With Gold
Got my clear with gold flakes on Friday. Saddle Creek knows how to package their stuff. Came with two posters, a sticker, a tattoo, a patch, a clear flexi disc, and a handwritten note.

ntslash got a reaction from nothnks in Shit on bands here
I doubt many on this board would disagree with you here. That wasn't the point though. The question is about how certain genre labeling is very limiting. Emo typically puts a band in a very narrow box. Rock and pop do not.

ntslash got a reaction from kjkenney in Open vinyl to check variant?
False analogy.
Should be...
Most people consider food "uneaten" if you just open the package to see what it looks like.

If you use a dust cover on your turntable that does the job of keeping the dust out but if not they are useful for keeping the dust out and protecting against damage.
It's useful to keep them on if your turntable gets dusted with any sort of cloth, I have heard of countless cantilevers and tips being damaged by getting snagged on cloths and sleeves.

Where did you guys find the full album? I'm still waiting for my deluxe copy. Is there somewhere we can download the whole thing?

ntslash reacted to Tardcore in Looking for Comfortable and Good Quality Headphones for Around $100
OP said specifically that they were not looking for ear buds or in-ears....
I like my ATH-M50s well enough. can be had pretty regularly for $100 (monitor slickdeals.net for deals).
they sound good and I wear them for ~4 hours every night. However, they do get sort of hot after a while due to the closed-back design.
Given that I use them exclusively at home, I may be switching to an open-back design in the future. However, since you intend to use yours at work, you'll get better isolation from closed-back cans.

ntslash got a reaction from withengineheart in Vinyl review sites?
Are there any vinyl review sties out there that allow users to post their reviews/ratings? I'm thinking something like Amazon's reviews, except specific for vinyl. It's frustrating that you can't separate the vinyl version reviews on Amazon, but even if you could, there probably aren't that many. I know you can look through these boards or other message boards to get people's opinions, but I'd love to be able to look at a newer release and see how people are rating it before I buy it. I know there are places that post a single review of an album, but I always like to hear more than one opinion.
If a site like this doesn't exist already, then maybe I will make one. Thanks!

ntslash got a reaction from Duff in Vinyl review sites?
Yes, I am thinking of reviews/ratings of different pressings and how they sound as opposed to album reviews. Similar to amazon's style of reviews - give it a rating out of 5 stars and then a description behind that rating. But the focus would be entirely on sound (and packaging) rather than how good the album is.
Modern Vinyl does have good reviews that discuss sound quality, but they don't have the capacity to review every album that comes out, or every pressing either. If there was a site where users could at least rate the sound quality, that would help inform vinyl purchases better. I'd prefer only to buy pressings that sound really good, as I'm sure everyone else would. I don't want a bunch of crap like the MOV repress of Live's Throwing Copper sitting on my shelves.
I realize that most records probably sound fine unless someone is complaining about it here, but it takes a lot longer to dig through a message board for reviews than it would to dig through an actual review/rating site.
This is something I've been thinking about for awhile. I was just curious if it already existed or if anyone else would find it useful.
