ntslash reacted to planetrakis in PO: Failure - New Album (Pledgemusic)
The album Fantastic Planet has Easily given me 100 federal reserve notes of pleasure. Purchased to support the band, and my ears.

Not ordering because whoever decided to put light gray text on that background is clearly a maniac.

Thanks for doing the research on this one. I thought it was all one pressing.

ntslash reacted to TheGhostOfRandySavage in Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly
Finally giving this a proper listen.
I know I'm going to catch shit for this...but so far it sounds like some Bruno Mars shit to me. Lyrically it's different (sometimes) in that it's more of a social statement, but the pseudo-funk backing on a lot the tracks sounds just like some of that shit (::cough:: King Kunta ::cough:: ), which I imagine most of you wouldn't give half a chance.
And the stuff that doesn't sound that way either sounds just like Outkast, or is almost too dense and layered for me to the point where stuff gets muddled and lost.
Then there's These Walls...which has a very MJ feel to it. I like it, but...if Michael Jackson had rapped instead of making pop music this song is it.
Kendrick is a great imitation of a lot of artists, but I don't think he's found his sound yet.
I guess that's why I'm so amazed everyone is creaming their jeans over this album/Kendrick in general. He does what he does well, but this at least doesn't sound like anything really new or groundbreaking to me. Solid 7.5 at best in my opinion.
Anyway, just my opinions. Thought I'd throw it out there rather than just shit on stuff with no reason given.

I agree with everything about his vision and music and whatnot, but his voice does nothing for me. I wish someone else sang his songs.

That sucks. Tell them to email the record company. I've just received replacement copies from stones throw and universal music group last week because I bought records with two of the same disk in it.

ntslash got a reaction from caninesapien in Taylor Swift - 1989 2xLP
I have to disagree with you here. When there is a big thread that never goes away about an artist you don't like, you get curious. What am I missing out on? Why are so many people talking about this artist or album? The thing that is especially interesting here is that this is pretty much the only pop album anyone is talking about on this board. Is Taylor Swift breaking ground between mainstream radio music and what the typical music collector likes (which does vary a lot, but never really goes deep into modern pop). I have a lot of friends who are really into music, and none of them like Taylor Swift. In fact, the only people I personally know who like her music are very casual music fans who don't listen to full albums. That's why this thread intrigued me. I wanted to see what it was all about. This thread has all kinds of craziness in it. I can't believe people are talking about $400 tickets to see her while people in other threads complain that a $25 record is outrageous. That's why I commented that this whole thing seems like a joke. Taylor Swift is a power in the music industry, so she definitely deserves respect whether you like her music or not.

I am not sure that I would even see Taylor Swift for free and you guys are talking about spending hundreds of dollars for a ticket. I don't get it.

Yea, totally my friend. If I see this in my local shop for like $20-$25 and its been a slow month of purchasing...I will grab it...otherwise I can live without it...Id much rather have a copy of O and then 9 and call it a day.... ( have a strong feeling if this album does well some reissues will be in the pipeline?>)

Is this really true about Discogs? Almost everything I want from Discogs is from a European seller with outrageous US shipping.
