  1. I got there an hour before they opened last year and ended up not getting anything I wanted. I wouldn't have been so annoyed, but I was in line for like almost 3 hours before actually getting into the store and went 0/6. They had an instore with Titus Andronicus that day, but I didn't stick around. We refer to you guys as "Western NY." Before going to New Paltz I went to school in Plattsburgh. Now that shit is Up-fucking-state. Basically Canada, but garbage.
  2. If you're into horror movie shit I can't recommend the Hudson Horror Show in Poughkeepsie enough. Sadly the one scheduled for June is up in the air right now because the venue is renovating and changing ownership. 12 hour 35mm Horror/Exploitation marathon. They actually showed House by the Cemetery last year and it was awesome. Plus some of the vendors have vinyl!
  3. Jack's in New Paltz is worth checking out too. Found a few cool records there. Also, some dope and cheap books. Is Vinyl Resting Place still open? I heard they were thinking about closing. I try not to go to Newburgh though. I like when they brings records to the Hudson Horror Show. Seconding Darkside I think anything north of Yonkers is usually called Upstate.
  4. Spring Breakers and Con Air are art goddamit. Do not be ashamed of your love for them. As for me, I'm a huge horror movie fan. I love trash from the 70s and 80s. I don't have any in particular, but most horror movies are pretty much garbage and I love them for it.
  5. Seeing someone call Blink 182 "old school" has made me realize I'm probably eligible for an AARP membership.
  6. They did a something% off sale on Christmas Eve a few years ago. I put a pink copy in my cart. Couldn't pull the trigger. About an hour later I said "Fuck it" and went to order it but they only had gray left so I ended up buying a rare Saddest Landscape record the band had just put up. I really hate myself for not just buying the gray copy. Had no idea it was going to end up being so hard/expensive to track down.
  7. I bought a couple dozen records without having a way to listen to them.
  8. Oh fuck, there's a Jupiter repress and a Ghostbusters 10"? Still, I think I'm only going to be actively looking for the Dads EP. Hopefully like Until Your Heart Stops last year Jupiter will have a regular pressing as well.
  9. If someone finds that clear Circa/SDRE split I'd be willing to buy it for cost. But seriously, I doubt I'll be able to make it out to RSD this year and if someone ends up with an extra Dads - Woman EP they want to sell me I'd be eternally grateful.
  10. I went from needing to smoke two or three joints just to get high to not being able to take two hits without having a panic attack. Its the fucking worst. I never got to enjoy my records while smoking. Of course not smoking allowed me to actually buy a turntable and receiver, but whatever. Still sucks.
  11. The only things I really want are that Dads EP and Robotic Empire's In Utero tribute. That Neil Young "Time Fades Away" shirt is dope though. Too bad it'll probably be like 3x the price I'm willing to pay for a tshirt.
  12. Yeah, Rick Ross the rapper used to be a corrections officer. That's basically a cop. ACAB
  13. Oh shit, forgot to post that I grabbed that Daylight album. Sorry if anyone tried and it was gone. The Pity Sex albums were both gone when I tried them, which was probably <10 minutes after they were posted.
  14. I'm not a girl, but I can answer with a very definite (and sad) yes. This is totally a thing that happens. I met my current girlfriend of 3.5 years online and she said she agreed to meet up with me initially because I was able to get more than two messages into the conversation without showing her my dick. I also have friends who've said that having an OKC or tumblr basically assures that you're going to see a ton of unsolicited dicks. A lot of dudes are fucking skeevy, especially on the internet.
  15. I honestly have no idea what to expect next week. I do know that I don't feel comfortable about Rust's storage locker full of evidence and crazy. I could see that fucking things up for him. It's not a prediction because like I said, I have no idea what to expect, but I could see them figuring out who is behind the cult and all that, but then Rust still going down for the murders because of what's in that locker. Especially with how powerful the people in that cult are supposed to be.
  16. I listened to screamo when I was a teenager, so I think I'm immune to bad band names now. There's no going back after accepting a band named Iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook
  17. It's definitely dumb, but the right kind of dumb. There's a self awareness to it that helps. I mean, I don't expect everyone to know the back story to it, but it's hard to take completely serious. The name came from the band goofing around and making up names for fictitious post-rock songs. Of course, I think the name Diarrhea Planet rules because you obviously aren't supposed to take it seriously. Mostly I just disagree with the "angsty teenager's diary" analogy because, while it fits for a lot of band names mentioned, I feel like an angsty teenager would have gone more along the lines "The world is a terrible place and I want to die"
  18. The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die picked their name as a purposefully bad joke and your hate only makes them stronger.
  19. I fucking love soundtracks, so I briefly thought this was going to be a hard round for me but then I remembered Clint Mansell - The Fountain Been waiting 7 years for this to get pressed on vinyl. Last I heard Mansell made an offhand comment on twitter that it was "going to happen" Runners Up: Cliff Martinez - Solaris Batman Forever Soundtrack Space Jam Soundtrack
  20. Yeah, that's probably the most 90s thing about it. TV shows couldn't really do big arcs because the only way to catch an episode you missed was in repeats or syndication. So the "big picture" episodes had to be spaced out between more stand alone episodes. With marathon viewing it's really jarring to go from like a two parter with a ton of crazy and important shit and then in the next episode Mulder and Scully go on some whacky adventure like nothing happened. Especially with the way TV shows are now. Breaking Bad was basically like a really long movie. You cant just put on a random episode having never seen it before.
  21. Been rewatching The X-Files. Marathon viewing kind of hurts this show and it's 90s as fuck. Still good though. Almost into season 3 and if I remember my last rewatch (probably 8-9 years ago) season 3 is one of the strongest. Some episodes (pretty much anything with aliens/alien abduction) still manage to scare me. Not sure if it's because they're scary or I'm just remembering how scared they made me when I was a kid. It definitely has something to do with that time I watched Fire in the Sky when I was 8 and never slept again.
  22. I want to buy something for an inflated ebay price but don't want to go through all the hassle of bidding and waiting, so this is perfect!
