So house and stare legislature passed another fucked up bill here. This time allowing business owners the right to deny service to anyone who is gay, based on their religious beliefs. First they can prosecute Hispanics. Now this. A friend of mine owns a pizza parlor called Rocco's and they made their own refusal sign. And Huffington Post placed an article about it. It's gotten a lot of positive feedback. Here is a link to the post. I'm doing this via my phone so I wish I could post the picture now. But hopefully someone can do that for me.

AS I mentioned in the last thread, colored records are meant for decor. Hence why your black records will always sound better, they are made to be played on turntables. This is why most records purchased at your local shop will be black "variants." Also Crosley is known for making colored record players that play records better than traditional "black TTs"

I understand what you're saying, however the OP phrased the question as, "How long should I wait before I put a high demand record on eBay to make the most, what's the most you've ever made (and how can I make a similar profit)?" Selling old, very obscure records is one thing, buying/preordering new releases with the intention of selling them at a higher mark-up is another. That's what is commonly shunned around here. Perhaps that's a double-standard, but I don't see how that 'morality' is elitist, or a flawed characteristic of this community. It's nothing personal against you, I'm just getting tired of this whole, "Vinyl Collective sucks and I'm going to go there and talk about how much I hate it and blame everything I don't like on people I don't know," crusade. It's died down a bit (a few of those pioneers- who will not be named, haven't been posting lately and oddly enough, everyone has been getting along better).Sorry to take this off topic and rant, but nobody is really learning anything from this thread that they shouldn't already know.

People who solely buy records with the mentality of investments and "flipability factor" are getting into this for all the wrong reasons. If you want to invest money, then buy stocks somewhere.
 
Records are mainly to listen to the music that is on them and support the bands and artists making that art. Sure, if down the road you either outgrow the music or even your record collection, may as well sell it.
 
People who see records as nothing more than shit like Beanie Babies were or even comic books back in the 90's, they just disappoint me.

I have a couple split 5"s and they are literally the worst. 

I don't think it has anything to do with profiting.  It's more about the fact that the dude has owned the same record on three separate occasions -- the last of which has resulted in a copy that he's not even going to open or play.  He's holding onto the album solely to flip it... and it's an album that he's clearly not all that crazy about to begin with.  That is what's being frowned upon, more or less.
 
For clarification, I didn't neg his post.  Just providing a little insight.

I've had three copies of You Are My Sunshine pass through my hands. Sold the first two for $50ish and $115, respectively. I cannot believe what people will pay for that. I have a sealed copy now and as bad as I want to open it, I know it'll probably never get repressed and I can just cash in later on.

So I bought a red faux leather portable shit-table at Goodwill today for 50 bucks. It's brand new, in the box and everything. Thinking about flipping it on the eBay to some lucky tween. Or might possibly make "art" and take a poop on the turntable while it spins. Any other suggestions on what do with this?

Wait, you're totally joking right now right? You do know for the most part USPS operates in the United States of America with jurisdiction under the USA and not of any other nation right? And you understand that when USPS ships items internationally they have to partner up with said nationals postal service and can't fully take 100% of the responsibility/burden of delivering a package right? So there is absolutely no logic what you hooraying the fact that USA get's an increase, and it definitely doesn't mean you will get a decrease from USA shipping. If anything put one and two together and you'll realize in theory it should increase for you as well buying from the USA. We don't go around parading media mail has gone up! Praise you hawley luyer! This is essentially a gain by the USPS and for no one else. Your bitterness toward 4$ shipping domestically in the USA is childish at best in comparison to international rates. We don't want to charge you over the top shipping prices as much as we don't want to pay over the top shipping from Canada, or anywhere to here in the USA. No one wants these charges except for the shipping businesses. Come on bud, get a grip.
