Everyone should dig into Talking Heads and REM's discographies.
No one should listen to Phish.

Just started exploring some Latin, African, and other non western pop styles. There’s so much to discover. I’m really digging some different African stuff across various genres, regions, styles, and eras - Fela Kuti, Basa Basa, Amadou and Mariam, Toumani Diabate, Ata Kak, and my fave, William Onyeabor. Picked up the Light in the Attic Erasmo Carlos reissues, plus a bunch of awesome other stuff from across the world. I love that there’s so much out there to explore.

Quick question about undrafted keepers. Shouldn't they be in 15th round? As in, someone you picked up in the 16th round last year would fit in the 14th this year, so undrafted would be 15th? Not a huge deal really, more just curious.

The only slapping the album deserves is slapping it into the fucking garbage.

Sidney Crosley got a reaction from Tommy in Looking For Recommendation/Advice - Complete Setup $1300 Budget
I have pretty much this, except with a NADC326BEE receiver ($400ish new) and a Hagerman Bugle2 preamp. A very solid setup, durable and reliable. My next move, maybe when my kids are older, will likely be 3-4 times in price, because it will start to take a lot more money for bigger sound improvements.

Super easy to do and they have reasonable hours. Well worth saving $12.

I loved Wolf in White Van. Really digging UH so far. I'm a sucker for anything involving a video store though.

Recently tweaked/upgraded my headphone setup, since with 3 kids under 5, I mostly only have time to listen to headphones instead of my turntable setup.
Audeze LCD 3 Fazor with Norne Audio balanced headphone cable
Massdrop x Cavalli Liquid Carbon X Amp
Gustard X20U Pro DAC
Kimber Kable PBJ balanced XLR interconnects
Onkyo DPX1A as DAP/transport

Sidney Crosley got a reaction from OneThreeOneTwo in Affordable Canadian Vinyl Thread / Amazon.ca Deals
Apparently Amazon.ca is having Vinyl Day, and I was skeptical at first, but some decent deals. I'm posting most of them on my Facebook page Cheap Vinyl in Canada and on Reddit. Some actual, real Canadian deals. After a really slow quarter of no deals on anything but utter crap, it's kind of a fun surprise.

Sidney Crosley got a reaction from OneThreeOneTwo in 90s Canadian Alternative/CanRock on Vinyl Thread
I feel like there's not nearly enough love for 1990s Canadian music on vinyl. And so I'm starting this thread for the few of us on here to try to appreciate what, if at all, is currently pressed from this era. I was an avid radio-listening, MuchMusic-watching kid in the mid-late 90s, and have a serious soft spot for a lot of the music from the era. But so little of it is available on vinyl (unless it came from Sloan's murderecords, and even then, most of that is hard to find).
Some records that I own/hope to own from this era:
Lowest of the Low - Shakespeare My Butt (rerelease)
Weeping Tile - Cold Snap (Sarah Harmer's old band - I love this one)
Hayden - Everything I Long For
Hayden - The Closer I get (rerelease)
Rheostatics - Whale Music (rerelease)
Sloan - One Chord to Another (someday I will own this - though I've heard they're working on a reissue?)
Local Rabbits - Kombinator
Change of Heart - 82-97 (recent compilation, but easily the worst mastered recorded I've heard in a long time)
There is a bunch more out there, but so much I wish I had on vinyl, like early treble charger, Thrush Hermit, and probably some other bands I feel a bit nostalgic for, like I Mother Earth, Moist, etc.
Anyone else have some good 90s Canadian vinyl?

Hey @tug you should buy a lot of these to flip for profit. The resale will be off the charts!

Sidney Crosley got a reaction from Reshiram in I Think I'm Gonna Quit The Hobby
I've stepped back a bit in the last couple of years, in part because I have 3 little kiddos running around, also because I've invested far more into a higher end headphone setup, and due to physical space issues, it is not connected to the turntable. I listen to records when I cook or am doing work at home, but just as often put on my headphones with hi res digital files. One of the biggest issues is that between increased shipping costs to Canada and within Canada, plus a noticeable shift in cost of records as of about 3 years ago, when the Canadian dollar went from about 95 US cents to 75-80 cents, which it has been lately, it has added to the cost considerably, coupled with our $20 threshold for imported goods. I just got dinged $21 CAD on a $22 USD record last week. Stops making this kind of thing quite as worthwhile. Still like to go to record stores and look out for the odd online deal, but in Canada they're so hard to find these days.

Sidney Crosley got a reaction from OneThreeOneTwo in Record Store Day 2018
I just saw on their wall 2 or 3 of the Bowie releases, and the live one was for sure there, at least 2-3 copies of it. Didn't glance at the price but TRS is notorious for overpricing...

Saw it at Tiny Record Shop this morning around 10:30 - worth giving them a call to see if they still have it in.
