wow the change at around 1:30 saved the song, the first part is everything I hated ETID post-gutter. I was happy they moved away from this "feel good rock disco" mood on the last few releases and now this cover and first part of the song. lol.

Revival mode and it remembers are probably my least favorite on the albums haha but moor is one of my favorites ever

Man I’m not stoked on the 16 songs, 2xLP but if anyone is gonna put out a no 16 song filler album it’s gonna be etid

Sigh. Such a shit tour. No reason Etid shouldn’t be headlining every tour. At least I can show up late and leave early 

I know it’s dumb to set “rules” for music discussion, so obviously nothing is set in stone here – and also very subjective person to person – but I would think bare minimum, you’d need to hear the full album front to back, right?  For me, even interludes or shorter gap tracks can change the tone or impact of a full record.  But I’m also a full album guy through and through, and personally like to get in 2-3 listens before I can confidently say how it competes with everything else for the year.  Especially when most of my new favorite records end up being dense or requiring a few listens to fully unpack.  Saying that a band has put out the best singles of the year is a fair statement… but unless you’ve gotten your hands on a leak or have had an advance copy, referring to a record as AOTY before its release date just doesn’t add up to me.  “This is shaping up to be my AOTY”, I totally get.  “Unless so and so surprise me with their record, [band] is going to release my AOTY I’m pretty sure”… not so much.  Especially when there’s not even a single to go off of.  Nothing wrong with being a devout fanboy but it is pretty silly like Dan said.
 
I guess among friends and the circles I’ll discuss music with, AOTY is definitely just that – the top album of the year.  So I’m used to it holding a little clout or making my ears perk up.  “AOTY so far” is fair to throw around in the first half of the year.  And I, too, will say stuff like “electronic AOTY for me” or “probably the metal AOTY at this point”.  Without designation though, if you use it as is, I’m going to assume it’s quite literally the best record you’ve heard for the current year.

We can take it to the Etid thread but while I think the album is gonna be amazing, based on the songs released so far, we’ve heard about 5/6 from the new album, I don’t get a heaviness from it

So last night I went to battle with Amazon to try and get them to honor my order at their fuck-up price. I ended up being on chat with maybe 4 different reps. This was all on the text contact on the app. I was a bit drunk during all of it but not aggressive or rude. I was trying to reason with them that it's not fault that they screwed up on the price and I shouldn't be penalized for it and asked to have my order reinstated for the $16.99. 
 
It all came down to them kept saying that the record hadn't come out yet and couldn't reinstate the order once it's been cancelled. By the last rep, I was completely frustrated and worn down and I expressed this to the dude. He reached a compromise in lieu of not being able to put my order back: gave me a gift card credit for the difference in pricing of the correct price and fuck-up. So essentially I can order it and apply the gift card and still get it for the $16.99. 
 
It's a great compromise. But man...I was put through the ringer for it.
