  1. When I scrolled down and saw the album cover with "LP", I thought that was surely it! But nope...
  2. Someone posted this screenshot from Adam Jones' IG on the VinylReleases reddit:
  3. I just got my shipping notification from them. Only means the label was created, but still a good sign.
  4. I've e-mailed Port Merch to ask about this. "Original handmade" really suggests unique drawings (and on the EU shop, "handmade" is even italicized), and they probably should be for what shakes out to roughly a $75 premium over buying the LP + prints and the tote. It becomes much less interesting if it's just a signed print. In any case, if their online inventory for the US shop is accurate, they aren't selling through many of these bundles. I could cart 117 yesterday, and 114 today. Update: Port Merch never responded, so I e-mailed the artist. She was kind enough to confirm the /250 drawings are all unique, hand-drawn originals, though will look similar because they are based on the same sketch.
  5. Repress is back in stock for those still looking: https://merch.ambientinks.com/collections/sylvanesso/products/echo-mountain-sessions-lp-1
  6. Green and red options out of the UK too. https://www.recordstore.co.uk/recordstore/recordstore/Local-Valley-Limited-Edition-Translucent-Green-Vinyl-LP/6Y910000000 https://www.recordstore.co.uk/recordstore/recordstore/Local-Valley-Recordstore-Exclusive-Translucent-Red-Vinyl-LP-Signed-Art-Print/6Y9M0000000 Red seems to be different than the Brooklyn Vegan variant somehow (maybe translucent vs. opaque), and /1000 with a signed print. Green seems to be UK indies.
  7. US lists here: With pictures: https://www.roughtrade.com/us/record-store-day-2021-june-12th https://www.roughtrade.com/us/record-store-day-2021-july-17th With quantities (and faster to scroll through): https://recordstoreday.com/PromotionalEvent/580 Kinda meh for me, but definitely Life Aquatic and maybe Beastie Boys.
  8. At least a portion of the sales of the signed copies is going to their crew fund. The premium bothers me a little less since it's for a good cause. The LP does seem like an afterthought designed to sell the book. I bought it, but mainly because I was at one of those Forest Hills shows. It would've been really nice (and easier to justify the cost) if it was the book plus a 3LP or 4LP box set.
  9. It’s a shot of the top of the bleachers at Forest Hills Stadium. But if you’re asking about this as an aesthetic choice, then yeah, dunno.
  10. Not candy, but I got a tea bag from Resident with my latest order. Very English...
  11. In my experience, I would recommend storing them completely separately (which I do for any that have unique prints, colors, shapes, etc.) or else throwing them out (after carefully peeling off or cutting out any stickers, if you wish to keep them). When I scrubbed my collection to get rid of these sleeves a few years ago, I found that jackets stored in them stank like plasticky chemicals, and regular poly sleeves on records adjacent to them had weakened/rippled. And most of these were relatively recent releases (e.g. Mars Volta), so we’re not just talking about old ones from the 80s. Everything LOOKED fine, but that off-gassing is just no good.
  12. Just so you’re using the right terminology—the cantilever is part of the stylus, which is part of the cartridge, which attaches to the tonearm. The cantilever is the tiny metal arm that extends down from the cartridge to the record surface. On the tip of the cantilever is the needle, which actually contacts the record surface. The cantilever is suspended, allowing it to move up and down. As others have mentioned, your tracking force weight is probably too high (i.e. counterweight is too low), causing too much downward force at the cartridge-end of the tonearm and therefore causing the cantilever and needle to flatten. Ease up the weight at the far end of the tonearm. If you don’t have a scale, ease it up until the cartridge/tonearm float, and then increase weight until it’s enough to drop gently on the record surface. Here’s a diagram of the parts of a cartridge:
  13. Use code 6APCYK for 15% at Barsuk. Brings this just under $17 shipped.
  14. For those who don’t follow the score/soundtrack thread, and also completely missed that this got repressed in November: https://store.nin.com/products/the-social-network-vinyl There are some retail copies on Discogs with slightly better pricing. Many online retailers are out of stock or backordered, though, so maybe don’t sleep on it (though no idea if the NIN folks reliably keep these Definitive Editions open).
  15. For anyone else who completely missed that The Social Network got repressed in November: https://store.nin.com/products/the-social-network-vinyl There are some retail copies on Discogs with slightly better pricing. Many online retailers are out of stock or backordered, though, so maybe don’t sleep on it (though no idea if the NIN folks reliably keep these Definitive Editions open).
  16. I didn’t get one from Blood, but their US shipping on a single LP is £15. So prices between the two are basically the same in USD assuming Blood wasn’t discounting VAT. Milk works out to roughly US$45 shipped with the small 10% discount from email signup.
  17. New and expanded limited pressing of “Peter” by Eric’s Trip: https://bluefogrecordings.bigcartel.com/product/ericstrip-peter-lp-vinyl
  18. Try an isopropyl alcohol solution on a cotton ball or soft cloth, ideally diluted with distilled water and rinsed with the same when you’re done. Start with maybe 4 parts water, 1 part alcohol, and keep upping the alcohol until it is effective. Note that most CD repair fluids are mild abrasives that work by buffing out scratches on CDs. What you are seeing on the 45 might be fine scratches rather than residue, and nothing will fix that.
  19. Sloan is splitting their "B Sides Win" collection into multiple volumes for a vinyl release. I personally would've preferred a 3LP or box set to cover it all in one shot, but oh well. Volume 1 is currently in a "secret" preorder. 1200 copies on blue vinyl. $18.99 (shipping to the US is $7.99). https://shop.kt8merch.com/products/sloan-b-sides
  20. FWIW, my copy from VMP showed up just fine, packaged like lots of other retailers package records. Does VMP just attract people who don’t buy a lot of records? There’s nothing better or worse about VMP shipping compared with most anyone else, as far as I can tell. If their shipments suffer from particularly bad seam splits, maybe the problem is someone throwing the boxes around at their local USPS distribution center.
  21. Limited pressing on matching beige colored vinyl. Track list is the one from the second pressing of the CD. No word on whether the hidden track is included. https://rilokileyrkives.bandcamp.com/album/rilo-kiley
  22. If you only tried through the Loma Vista shop, you could try here instead: https://merch.ambientinks.com/collections/sylvanesso
  23. You can get a 15% discount on preorders through their web shop for the next three days with code “WITH15”. There is also an indie variant on “sky blue opaque”: https://craft-n-vinyl.com/UPC/888072196407 http://store.landlockedmusic.com/product/sylvan-esso-free-love
  24. Makes me feel a bit better. My copy of the red Boygenius shipped the same day and followed the Punisher tracking to Frankfurt, then stopped. Boygenius tracked through the US and was delivered today. Annoying situation but fingers crossed.
