  1. I PM'd the guy... gotta run out to play some tennis now. I hope I'm the first, I want that album right effing now. Also, I just got my copy of Flies To Flame in the mail.... and the band ignored my instructions to ship the record outside the jacket. So now there's a gigantic seamsplit across the top. GRRRR. They even printed out the order, WITH MY INSTRUCTIONS, and included it in the box. Aggravating.
  2. I want that Rosetta album. PM'd you. Going to play tennis right now but let me know where I can send that money to ASAP.
  3. Glad I held off on the splatter!!! Will pick up a tour press in NYC... weeee
  4. Skipped the shirt bundle, just ordered the white vinyl and CD from HelloMerch. Still on the fence about the black with silver splatter vinyl, that could be awesome, but it works out to being just under $37 USD with shipping. Not sure I want to spend that much, unless I could trade it for some Rosetta albums haha
  5. Jesus christ, the shipping for the US bundles is fucking inssane. $14 for UPS ground is the cheapest.
  6. Yeah I've just been listening to the online version. Its fucking awesome. I love the new clean vocals. They're developing the same way Isis developed, and that's amazing to see happen. Their next few records are going to be even better IMO. Can't wait to see them next month either!
  7. Also do we have any pictures of the black/silver splatter? The more I'm thinking about it, I kind of like the white. Fuck, I just might buy both. Is this how it starts, guys? lol
  8. I think I'm in for the splatter, too... kinda bummed US is only black and white. That's kinda lame. Links to these other variants?
  9. CANNOT WAIT!!!! Kinda bummed that you guys at the Dunk Festival got Waking Season and the Quovis/Further Up/Further In suite... Those are my favorite Caspian tracks (I think) and they didn't play any of them in Rhode Island. I did get my Gone In Bloom and Bough though, which was sick. Any idea what time this is going up? I'm supposed to play tennis this afternoon with a friend.... I don't want to miss the vinyl and whatever CD/shirt bundles there are. I hope they make a shirt of that feather artwork. But I hope its on thicker material; I have the moon t-shirt and I don't wear it because its awkwardly long and very thin.
  10. Man, you guys are disappointing me! Nobody cares about this album? pfffff
  11. This shit is no fucking joke. I haven't been that taken by a band in a long time. Just unreal music and creativity.
  12. The end of that album was like a wave crashing. I haven't been that taken away by a full release in a long, long time. It's almost like Dark Side of the Moon in its finality. You realize you were gone from reality when it ends, and you have to now go back to the real world. Very, very powerful stuff.
  13. Also, if you like Deafheaven, you guys HAVE TO CHECK this album out. Someone rec'd it in the black metal thread here, and I was skeptical at first, but... wowwwww Its more shoegaze/post-rocky than straight black metal, but wowwwwww this album is just sooooo deep. One of the few things where, once it was over, it was like "well fuck, now what do I do?" https://izahband.bandcamp.com/album/sistere
  14. Never mind, I got it figured out haha. Edit: Sick thanks for the bigger version! I didn't realize the color change happened... I was like "WHY WONT IT LET ME JPEG IT, ITS JUST A PICTURE?!?" One of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. Thanks again man, this is brilliant. I wish there was a more hi-res version somewhere, to make the lines crisper and less fuzzy when it gets blown up but this still works fine Stolen for my FB cover photo. Awesome.
  15. Woahhhh that's super cool. Didn't know that existed. Also, dude.... can you upload the image from your signature? I neeeeeed that picture, and it won't let me right-click and save here on the page for some reason, except as a .gif which is weird.
  16. Okay, so. These albums will clearly define the difference for you: Death metal: Suffocation - Pierced From Within Morbid Angel - Covenant Deicide - Legion Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance Incantation - Onward To Golgotha Black metal: Immortal - Pure Holocaust Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Darkthrone - A Blaze In The Northern Sky Markduk - Panzer Division Marduk Dark Funeral - The Secrets of the Black Arts Old Man's Child - In Defiance of Existence The Black Dahlia Murder are a metalcore band who used to copy At The Gates. Other metalcore bands: Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall (sorta?), All That Remains, Texas In July. If you like Black Dahlia Murder, check out where they get their style from by listening to the amazing album Slaughter of The Soul by At The Gates (i just got goosebumps typing the title haha). Also, if you are looking to explore black metal more, please check out Immortal's catalog. Their early stuff, like Pure Holocaust and Battles In The North, is just caustic, fast black metal. They moved onto this amazing thrash/black metal thing when Abbath took over guitars. You fucking NEED to listen to the album "At The Heart of Winter" because Withstand The Fall of Time might be the greatest black metal thing ever written. It also has Tragedies Blows At Horizon, Solarfall.... just titanic fucking songs. More goosebumps, haha. Fuck yeah. And then their album after that, Sons of Northern Darkness. Just fucking incredible, incredible music. Timless albums. But no fucking joke, you better listen to At The Heart of Winter and Sons of Northern Darkness.
  17. So, the drummer for my old death metal band has a black metal group in Boston he plays with, and they are AMAZING. They are calle Grue. Please listen to "Casualty of the Psychic Wars". https://grue.bandcamp.com/album/casualty-of-the-psychic-wars The entire album is amazing, but the first 2 tracks are my favorites. Violent, melodic, just headbanging awesome USBM. TONS of catchy riffs and sections that stick with you. This is probably my most-listened-to black metal album now. I just cannot get enough of it.
  18. Word yeah maybe that's what I'll do. Some of the records have done it right from the get-go, like my copy of Gates - You Are All You Have Left To Fear. That one especially you can detect the noise all throughout the record, just below the surface of the music. Maybe I'll take a video to upload to show you what i mean. Its just like a hollow noise... which I'm guessing just means the records are dirty and need to be cleaned.
  19. Sunbather is an example of an album that should NOT be limited. Everybody should be able to spin this on vinyl. It's too fucking good.
  20. So.... would that reduce surface noise then? Because some records I have, I put them on... the needle goes into the groove, and it's dead silent. Others, its just noisy... kind of like static, almost a white general noise kind of thing. I thought I would have to fix that by cleaning the records, but if that's being produced because my needle is pushing against the outside of a groove then I'll get a new turntable. But wouldn't that manifest itself on EVERY record?
  21. It really isn't. Granted, I've been reading him religiously since high school. Dude... just start. Get any of his compilations. It's awesome because even after so much exposure, his mythos and lore is still mysterious and novel to me... it's amazing. Dreams in the Witch-House is a good starting place. That one kind of touches on everything he did.... the old school regular horror stories, the mysterious dreamer stuff, and the Cthulhu Mythos characters. Other good ones to check out first: The Temple The Festival The Haunter In The Dark The Nameless City The Call of Cthulhu Nyarlathotep Dreams In The Witch-House
  22. Honestly, most of his stories are so short that it won't take you long to blow through everything he wrote. The longer ones will take a week, depending how much/how fast you read. Just finished The Case of Charles Dexter-Ward for maybe only the 2nd time... so awesome. My favorite is still The Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath though. Followed.... man, I don't even know by what. Lovecraft wins so hard. He would be so unimaginably blown away to know what his work has become. Dude was a nobody when he was alive. So weird.
  23. Thanks for the info, but the cartridge head on the Stanton actually is angled. It's done in kind of a weird way, with a straight casing that has 2 open slots where 2 screws hold the head, and you angle the head by staggering the placement of the screws (kind of hard to explain). Will getting a better turntable result in a sound improvement at all then?
