I fucking LOVE Alcest. "Shelter" is my favorite album, that thing is fucking sick. It's less black metal and more shoegaze, but I fucking love that thing.
Their older records are great too, but the pop melodies mixed with the distortion and shoegaze guitar work on "Shelter" just blow me away.

Gifts For The Earth is taking me a while to get into. Not sure why.
Rest of the album is legit though. A lot of it feels like they've hit into the "modern black metal" thing with polished groups like Dimmu Borgir and Enthroned and stuff like that, from Europe, but then they go into their clean grooves and everything is perfect.
This album is way too short, though. It's over far too fast. They're just making me want more now. Grrrr!

Just started the album stream. For some reason, I'm finally really liking Brought To The Water. I think it just takes a few listens to finally "get" what the band is aiming for with certain passages and energy spectra. This is a great fucking song. I get it now, I even like some of the solo. I hated the solo before. Weird.
Can't wait to get to the rest of the album.
Edit: oh man, I was fully expecting to hate this album, but holy shit... this is fucking tremendous shit.
Baby Blue, FTW. Good lord, what a track. Luna, too. Baby Blue's first like 4-5 minutes are fucking legit, before they get to that chugging thrash groove. Not a big fan of this section, honestly, but whatever. I guess it'll be their "mosh groove".

So.... not sure how 420-friendly you guys are here, but... being that I partake very seldomly (usually no more than a half-dozen times a year, truthfully) when I get the chance to combine that with music listening, its a special occasion.

Dude, "Untitled III" is without question the greatest Rosetta song. I have many other favories (Je Nen Connais Pas or whatever it is, Temet Nocce, etc) but man, this song is fucking leagues ahead of EVERYTHING.
It is utterly perfect "Rosetta".
This album is just utterly tremendous. It keeps blowing the fuck out of my mind the more I listen to it. They've gotten to "their place" the way Isis gets to "that place" but doing it on their own, with their own sound and take on the trippy post-metal journey.
Anyway, just some thoughts. So thankful this album is a thing.

EDIT: Wow, Rioseco is absolutely fucking stunning. What a track. Very different dynamic level for Caspian to maintain for a song. It's like Caspian in a fancy nightgown dress at a ball thrown by the local drug kingpin: beautiful and light, but dark.
EDIT 2: Jesus Christ... Arcs of Command. Good fucking lord... Wow. This might be my new favorite Caspian song. This tune just does not quit.
