still haven't gotten to Collapser, but this album is pretty good.  Lottttta different new things.  The Pianos track is really good.  It threw me off hard at first, but that ending is great.

Division Blues is a big favorite too.

I have a Stanton T62 that I've been running for about a decade, and the speaker system is a Logitech X530.  It was working beautifully, and actually sounded really good, but has developed a ground loop hum that I am at a loss for solving.  Checked grounds, new outlets, switching outlets, recoiling cables....  can't seem to get rid of it.

    yes all tapes are /33.

The poster, as well as the maps that come with the tapes, lead to a secret marketplace where you can use your coins to buy things.  I will say that the packaging of the tapes is your key.  The packaging and the maps go together.  Like, literally together.

Turns out, this is likely a bonus track from Babel called Pharmakeia.  It's a single-sided 12" single.  It's very nice.  It's fast.  It's got a lot of parts, and is similar to the Babylon series of songs where it revisits themes from previous songs.  It's good.

And per CJ, the packaging for THIS single has more clues to more things, which..... ehhhhh I don't even want to start getting into haha.  There are maps inside the gatefold.  It's crazy.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  Just a couple things!  If you haven't seen the A Thousand Arms thread, starting tomorrow everything is 30% off!  That includes new represses for Babel, Earthcult, as well as the Tukor release from Torz (post-rock literally recorded IN A CAVE) in addition to the new releases from Pray For Sound and Kokomo   My wallet already hurts.

secondly, some personal business.  Mouth of the Architect - The Ties that Blind.  Do I want the OG mix or the remaster?  I love this album, and I need it.  But TL is now out of the repress, so it's off to Discogs...

    What say you!?

Pretty sure label is dead.  Caspian/Phil even made some announcement way back about ending things with them, serving them with legal papers, etc etc.

My guess is that one of the owners died and the other one spun into madness.  Their IG posts are so weird and cryptic.  It's very sad.

I would check all of your connections...  but remember this album always had weird production.  The drums are very strange sounding, especially the kick drum.  It kinda sounds like wet cardboard.

just chiming in to say that this release is fucking incredible.  I got the /180 black and Metal Blade crushed it.  Sounds amazing.  Poly sleeves, and they packaged it with the records inside and facing the spine so no seamsplits.  It sounds fucking killer.  Like, this is awesome.

    AOTY probably.

Anyone order a metric ton of TRNA?

As promised, I'm bumping the thread with an update.  This was waiting for me on my doorstep today.  I know the shipping was a doozy but all copies arrived in a tank of a box, which was then bubble wrapped and housed inside of another box with additional padding.  As a result, all copies appear to be pristine.  They were shipped with the records wedged inside the gatefold, so no seam splits.  Haven't looked at the variants yet but presentation wise, they're a beauty.  I think everyone will be very pleased.

Conveniently enough I have tomorrow off by chance, so I'll be packing all these up tonight and getting them out tomorrow morning.  I'll be skipping town and busy over the weekend, so tracking numbers may be a little slow.  But please know that your copies will all be en route as of tomorrow morning.

    Thanks guys.

Also, since this is the place I mostly hang out, if any of you are at all curious to hear what kind of music I make, my band's debut album is coming soon on 11/2 and I made a thread.  It's absolutely got post-rock, shoegaze, and all other kinds of spacey sounds all over it.  Here's the thread in case you're curious -

Haha, I'd expected something much heavier! But don't get me wrong - this is definitely great piece of music, relaxing I'd say; reminds me summer time so much! This is the way I imagine California in its seventies
Good luck with the record, Greg!

Hey everyone!  As a frequent contributor here, I figured maybe a couple of you might be interested to hear my band, Glass Pony.  We have our first album coming out on 11/2, and NYS Music has premiered the first track from the album.  If you like indie, shoegaze, post-rock, or jambands, you might find something to dig from this

You can check out "Stardust" at the following link:

Back to work after the dream-filled Post. Festival.

Seriously guys, I don't know why you all aren't there.  It's just..... incredible.  I know I gush over a lot of stuff, but seeing all these bands we love just absolutely DESTROY on stage is something truly special.  Great hangs with @mrewest who also got to see the PSOTY shirt that @drds89 gave to me a few years ago

As stated above, Girih DID annihilate Post. Fest.  Way better live than on record.  A quick run-down of my experience:

Shy, Low and Au Revoir - we all expected them to lay waste to that stage, and they did.  Shy, Low played TWO new songs, and Au Revoir ended with one new song.  All of them ruled.  These bands deserve to be so much bigger than they are.

Pray For Sound - the best American post-rock band?  They would get my vote.  Even after losing their 3rd guitar player, these guys lost no steps.  They are impressive, and scarily consistent with their material quality.  They did 4 new songs, and they were all awesome.  The "Everything Is Beautiful" material continues to demonstrate that album's majesty.  I can't say enough good things about this band.  When I see them, I feel like I've just been given an IV of joy and positive vibes.  They're fun to watch, and painfully affable and friendly.  All the good things.

Ranges - I know these guys are polarizing a little bit, but I enjoy them.  They have this weird meditative, somber thing going on that makes me think I'm in a quiet forest in the middle of the mountains and it's snowing and everything is perfectly still.  I like it.

Lowercase Noises - Andy wrote a full set of new material that had a bass, drummer, and xylophone player.  It was really good.  It's not available anywhere because he wrote it all last week.  Not even joking.  (okay it was 4 weeks ago but still)

Circus Trees - these kids are going to be huge.  Them and Wander were the highlight stealers.  I was so, so impressed with them; their live set wipes the floor with their recorded material, which is to be expected because at the age they are, you grow and mature at such a rapid pace.  Don't judge them by their recorded stuff.  Go see them.  This was unbelievably good.

SOM - a super group of post-rock playing Deftones-type stuff.  It was fine, a lot of people loved it (my gf included) and i enjoyed it but there's other things i like more.  The cooks in this kitchen are impressive though:  Caspian's drummer on bass, the singer is the lead guy from Constants (who also produced Waking Season and Dust & Disquiet), the guitar player from Junius, and they had Eric from Rosetta/City of Ships doing FOH.  Check it out.

Driving Slow Motion - they started off as stereotypically bland and cookie-cutter post-rock as I could ever imagine seeing, but man.... when they started to get dark and weird, their material got very engaging.  I will be checking out more of their stuff, because this was impressive.

Wander - jesus fucking christ.  Go see this band.  Probably the festival highlight for me.

I/O - a treat to finally hear some of these songs, i've been listening to them for years.  They started off a little shaky, but once they got settled it was really really good.  They have an interesting mix of math with the post-rock and some jazzy elements with the very active bass player.  Real nice.  "Anna" and "Input/Output" were very strong.

Life and Times - I don't really get it, but they played well.

Spotlights - I liked some of it, I need to check them out more - a lot of people were flipping out over them (like you Evan haha) and it wasn't bad by any means at all, just not completely my thing.

Holy Fawn - yeah, they're the next Caspian.  These guys are going to be biiiiiig.

The fest ended up being 1.5 hours behind schedule, so we missed TEOTO and O'Brother because of flight schedules and pragmatic life choices.  I'll see them again, but it hurt to miss TEOTO.  I don't love the new material, so it's fine.

All in all, this was amazing.  They sold nearly 300 tickets, which was awesome - it was pretty full and the space was perfect.  This is going to be a thing, and all of you need to get there.

That's fair.  I can't get into Russian Circles like you guys all do, same with Pelican.  Pelican bores me to tears.  Ranges, yes...  very "standard" post-rock but i like their aesthetic and they work hard and the music isn't bad by any means, and I like that they're pushing themselves with the faster drums.  They've earned where they're at.  Not every band can be Caspian-level creative.

Checking this now.  Also, my friend is dating a dude from this Toronto post-metal band called Sarin who sounds shockingly, SHOCKINGLY like Isis.  Like, if I played you this album and said it was Aaron Turner, you wouldn't be able to tell i was lying.  Very good stuff.

    https://sarin.bandcamp.com/

EDIT:  I like this E-L-R stuff a lot but the term post-metal always makes me think of Isis/Rosetta/COL and this is NOT that.  It's more like Alcest, which is awesome.  I'd call it blackgaze.  Fans of TRNA and Show Me A Dinosaur are gonna like this.  Rooted in the hypnotic grooves of black metal.  I dig it!!
