So I haven't listened to this album in a few years, and inspired by this thread, I'm gonna listen to this, Clandestine, and Wolverine Blues. I hope they do those 2 as well.

There are a couple really memorable shows for me.  
 
The first: When I was younger I didn't know much about music except for the records my sister left for me when she moved away.  I was just getting into writing and I really wanted to interview the band so I waited outside for the band.  Unfortunately I didn't get to meet the headliners, but I ended up befriending the opening band.  They ended up bringing me on tour with them so I could write about them.  Between shows our plane hit turbulence and every band member told one another their secrets leading to the breakup of the band.
 
The other:  It was a show I was part of.  I was kicked out of my band and really needed a musical outlet.  My then roommate was clashing with his girlfriend over the fact that she wanted to kick me out.  With that imposing threat in mind, I posed as a music teacher, getting a job substituting at a local prep school.  After teaching my students about the history of rock and roll, we were finally ready for the Battle of the Bands.

I often find myself turned off by bands that proselytize extensively for any one cause. It's even harder to enjoy when they are doing it for a cause you are disinclined to agree with, or outright dislike.

Still holds up for me as an adult.

But every exposure I've had to Bon Iver's music so far, I have found deeply, aggressively unappealing. I just can't take it.

I have trouble seeing why anybody should care. The word "audiophile," as I mentioned earlier, is completely watered down by this point. It should really truly only mean those people for whom sound quality is something they pursue in their life to the point of being an obsessive hobby.
 
I love music, I have a pretty sweet record collection, I want things to sound good, but if I have a setup that sounds good to my ears, why should I give a shit if someone else says it's not good enough? And why should anybody else get their panties in a bunch over the gear that I like to use?
 
I can't remember if it was in this thread, or on another board, but somewhere I saw some discussion about people saying, "I just hate the idea of people buying these and going on about how great their system sounds." Something like that, in short. And I can't help but wonder why in the god damn ever loving hell anybody should give a shit! It's like when you bring up Beats by Dre gear to tr00 audiophiles. You wanna see a dude blow his top...
 
All that said, I don't have the money to throw at this right now. If I did, I'd consider it as a "bedroom" turntable. I'm one of those terrible non-audiophile types that likes having an auto return on my turntable, though, and this one doesn't have it. Because I like to listen to my records as I fall asleep sometimes.
 
God bless audiophiles, though. Someone has to be concerned about audio quality, as more and more people seem to accept shittier and shittier sounding music these days.
