hexrecords reacted to INRIhab in Every Time I Die - Album 9
Yeah and Steve from ETID was in KG as well! Man, Hot Damn and KG's This Feeling Gets Old were my jams back in '03.
Last ETID Christmas show I went to was in 2010 at Mohawk Place. Back when I used to cross the border from Ontario to hit up Buffalo shows. Pretty sure it was a few days after Christmas but I remember Kid Gorgeous was the opener. That was a great at show!

hexrecords got a reaction from verb1999 in Every Time I Die - Album 9
I can't imagine an ETID livestream holding a candle to how insane those holiday shows they throw are. But they continue to be one of the best live bands around because of their energy, humor, and enthusiasm and I bet a livestream would still be pretty fun.
As far as 'being over' livestreams, I can feel that. I've watched a number of them this year, some low-key and free, one was pay-if-you-can that was waaaay more professional than expected, and one buy-a-ticket thing that was super professional and pretty decent. They range in quality. And bands that tour as full-time jobs I get how this may be a somewhat necessary option just to keep the lights on, so to speak. Luckily, most of the ETID guys have careers outside the band they can fall back on (Jordan as a graphic designer, Keith as a professional writer, Andy as a wrestler) so the livestream thing may be part 'we need money', part 'we just really miss doing this'.
As far as favorite records go I think the last few records have been really awesome, like doubling down on the aggressive/fast stuff (especially "Ex-Lives") and I'm a huge fan of the earlier stuff too like "Last Night In Town" probably because I grew up in Central/Western NY and was around right when they got started.
Here's also an early song of theirs that never was re-recorded, or appeared on any other release for those who want to dig deep:

hexrecords got a reaction from TheWindBlower in PO Now - Shame - Drunk Tank Pink (Out on Jan 15th 2021)
For sure. The first single was definitely in the vein of what you might expect from them but this new song is definitely a turn. I'm certainly curious as to how the rest of the record is. Reading about some of the influence they've said they're going for with this new album I think it could be pretty good. Most definitely one of the wildest live bands I'd seen in recent memory.

Can't deny that either. I ordered a copy on whim when you first posted the thread – price was right and the single was solid – but have since revisited the album in full a couple of times over the last week. One of my better blind buys in some time.

I can attest to the fact that this band does indeed jam. Get in on this and their album Life Cinema while you’re at it.

hexrecords got a reaction from waxstatic in PO: GAYTHEIST, "How Long Have I Been On Fire" LP
That's very kind of you, thanks. It literally costs that much just to send a single LP overseas. Ridiculous. I try to make up for it with some bonus stuff in all orders.

hexrecords got a reaction from monsterrod in PO: GAYTHEIST, "How Long Have I Been On Fire" LP
Portland, OR's own Gaytheist returns with their 5th full length record and their finest work to date.
13 songs of KABOOM rock, depression anthems and various attempts at communication. Feedback, rhythm and speed, it is an amalgamation of punk, hardcore, metal, and wild rock.
Incredibly catchy leads and soaring vocals are carried by subatomic, weighty bass grumblings while a tornado of drum wailing knocks the listener on their ass.
Oh, and they're really funny too. Who says metal has to be so serious all the time?
“How Long Have I Been On Fire?” captures a band able to dissect serious topics and weighty feelings while exuding the essence of joy through anthemic and completely kick-ass music.
First single and pre-order is up over here: https://hexrecords.bandcamp.com/album/gaytheist-how-long-have-i-been-on-fire

hexrecords got a reaction from lexicondevil in PO: Cherubs - Immaculada High
Cherubs are wild. The peak of hiding pop hooks within huge walls of feedback and noise. I'd highly recommend checking out their last LP "2ynfynyty" for those just hearing them for the first time. Their last record before that was 20 years ago, "Heroin Man", which is sort of a lost gem amongst the AmRep crowd and is definitely on the dirtier/heavier side.

hexrecords got a reaction from aopps42 in Bandcamp to start pressing vinyl
It seems to basically just be a brokerage service, of which there are many of those these days. And if their 'manufacturing partner' is who I think it is than that makes bandcamp just a broker for another broker. Too many middlemen.

hexrecords got a reaction from sewnmouth in GREAT FALLS/ GREAT SABATINI split 12"
Seattle Great Falls and Montreal's Great Sabatini team up for a split LP of gross, heavy music with unique packaging in a very limited pressing.
Along with both bands submitting new music not on their new individual records this record contains a collaborative middle interlude on a locked groove, letterpressed covers, and an etched B-side.
Great Falls guitarist/vocalist Demian Johnson contributes the haunting cover art, which he printed via letterpress at his own studio. Meanwhile, Great Sabatini's Sean Arsenian designed the wild artwork that comprises the B-side of this LP as a laser-etched design.
Both bands contributed sound for the interlude track- a spooky noise piece that repeats on a locked groove. It creates an engaging experience for the listener, as they have to physically move the needle to continue on to the second half of the record.
Both bands push the envelope of what heavy, complex, and massively distorted noise rock/metal can be and are at the forefront of whatever it is exactly that they both do.
PRE-ORDER IS UP HERE.

hexrecords got a reaction from faaip de oiad in PO NOW: PIG DESTROYER - HEAD CAGE - Sep 7 2018
I think it's a pretty solid effort overall. It was initially a little wary on the new(ish) drummer since the original guy was such a maniac. But this dude shines on the new record I think, he really goes all out.
