  1. Hmmmm, not sure about mid-month renewals for already shipped AOTM to be honest. If you e-mail them or ping them through twitter they are great at responding. Also from their FAQ: I just signed up, when should I expect to get my first record? If you signed up after the 16th of the current month, your membership will be activated and your first order shipped during the 2nd week of the following month. If you signed up before the 15th of the month, your membership will activated immediately and your first order will ship within 5 – 7 business days.
  2. If you are talking about the AOTM, it should ship within the first week of the next month. This will also include your store purchases. So for example, if you sign-up today and buy a bunch from the store, everything, including next month's AOTM should ship the first week of June.
  3. $27 USD, one of the cheapest USD prices I have seen (and free shipping if you are a member). However, the amazon.ca price convinced me to stick with the dark-side for that one. EDIT: Although it looks sold out, note that VMP did say that they will be able to replenish most titles in the store. So keep a look-out.
  4. Prices of this will continue to trend down as people slowly realize that a 7" with 2,500 copies floating around isn't worth that much. If you are a completionist but don't need this right now, give it a couple years and for the hype to wear off and you should be able to find this for much more reasonable price.
  5. I remember seeing Billy Talent here in TO right after they made the switch from Pezz, and I absolutely loved them. Their self titled is still an awesome record, but most of the stuff that followed was no better than your local angry post-punk band. I assume that the fact that they never stacked up to their first couple full LPs, is why their following never swelled.
  6. I'm sorry I don't have any pics as I am work, but I can confirm that I ordered the box last June and received the silver on black one (https://www.discogs.com/Neutral-Milk-Hotel-NMH-Vinyl-Box-Set/release/5594481)
  7. Bummer about CSH. My The National EP had a huge defect as part of the wax. No questions asked, they replaced it. Everything I have experienced and read about on their boards leads me to believe they will definitely take care of you. Just be patient as... 8. CSH and maybe Fear of Men (is the rest of their stuff any good? Really like what I am hearing from Fall Forever) and LNT if I am in the mood next week. Also curious to hear more Classixx before committing... Their store always sets me back every month, dammit!
  9. Grabbed the deluxe. RH hasn't gone wrong with the deluxes yet, so I'll continue to put my faith in them. I do find it interesting that they rolled S&H costs directly into the price. A nice surprise, but sneaky win
  10. Nothing in the store aside from the CSH, Flume and maybe Minor Victories is grabbing me this month. That Flume price is nice to see after seeing how much it would cost to grab from either the official Flume site or AUS. I'm hoping for a couple more exclusives to pop up before the store opens (they said there would be between 3-5 exclusives this month).
  11. Liked the song, excited to see the direction of the album. I can see why people want to pull out Coldplay and Reich comparisons / influences as it does feel very 'familiar' in places. But per usual, they make it their own.
  12. Keyword there is 'renewals' The $10 could be applied for month 2... but month 1 will cost $27. But yes, you are right and I was wrong up there. It's not just the store which is actually really nice.
  13. Note they also have Deafhaven's New Bermuda and Stugil Simpson's A Sailor's Guide to Earth if you wouldn't mind a non-AOTM I've been a member for over 13 months now and have a couple dupes but dem the breaks sometimes
  14. I believe the $10 referral credit is for the store and cannot be applied to the subscription cost. <--- EDIT: Wrong as Halo showed below, it can be used for renewals as well! So while it may be net $17 on first blush, you will have to purchase something from the store to get the credit. That being said, they always have a great selection in the store at decent prices so it wouldn't be hard to use the credit right away.
  15. It's a music club. They are curating a bunch of albums that they feel are a nice eclectic mix of genres, time periods and new pressings. Whether all these albums are 'great' is up to the listener... and frankly there are a few duds to my ears. The thought that they would be only repressing albums that are in need of represses is pretty hilarious. Like somehow there aren't dozens of companies trying to get the rights to repress The Fragile or Frances The Mute or Since I Left You. Given the cheapest new MoFi copy of Pinkerton you can find is upwards of $30USD, I don't think this as a bad pick at all. Although I think we've had enough 90s for the next 6 months with Nada, The Fugees and Weezer in 5 months.
  16. $25 USD shipping to Canada from the US. Don't think I can drop $80 CAD on a preorder. Will hope something closer to home will open up. Pumped for the album though!
  17. Awesome deals people, especially for Canada with a flat 4.99 shipping, grabbed m83 and Jennylee. On the fence about Gems but they don't bundle shipping so I can go back for that later.
  18. Has anyone tried ordering a non-limited / non-variant from Kings Road? it sounds like their response is that this ban on media mail shipping is for limited items only, and aimed at ensuring they get to their recipients with minimal amount of damage so they don't have to hold limited runs in reserve for 'replacements'. Curious if people would be willing to eat the damage of a copy if they offered media mail shipping (i.e., if your record shows up with seam split, bent corners and you selected media-mail, you cannot return it)?
  19. I basically factor in $10-20 USD worth of shipping on all my online orders (depending on if from US/EU). It sucks because I really enjoy variant/limited edition collecting, and you are taking a huge chance hoping they show up in-store. So you order for security in your purchase. What that means though is every variant you order ends up running you close to $40USD... This is why I always have a nice chuckle when I see someone complain about $7 shipping here of $18 dollar shipping there... it's just something us Canucks have to live with. That being said, problems are relative and if you are used to free shipping, I can see why the removal of that option would be a bummer. Just don't expect much sympathy from us in the North
  20. Damn, must of just missed this. I'm looking for The Guest and Requiem but they aren't mandatory so waiting may be my best move... especially for Requiem where 5000 is a hefty pressing for RSD.
  21. First few listens and I'm still holding out for a more concrete opinion, as I was doing busy work while listening. I like it... I think, but I need to throw it on with headphones as I feel I am missing a lot. All that being said, kinda irked at my VMP pressing which holds a lot of surface noise for an album that demands quiet in parts.
