  1. Don't be too upset if you missed that Jamie XX pressing, it's not great for listening purposes.
  2. With this and Play coming, some of these 90s represses are coming up milhouse.
  3. Would you not consider this set of features a substantial upgrade for physical music medium like vinyl? "The HD portion of the vinyl comes from what they claim is 30 percent greater running time and greater volume plus double the audio fidelity." (Whether these features turn out to be real is yet to be seen, and frankly I was just having a little fun)
  4. Even at a 50 percent cost reduction per piece of vinyl, the sheer start-up investment from pressing plants would put off most investors or interested parties. Especially given they could just invest in more pressing plants where they know the product will sell, and there is a shortage. Furthermore, when was the last time a 'new' technological breakthrough in physical media format ended up being cheaper than its predecessor? Heck, this sounds akin to the blu-ray of vinyl... 30% greater running time? Higher fidelity audio? Environmentally friendly? Those all sound like extra dollars in Columbia's eyes. 'HDFi' pressings of all your favourite blues, soul, jazz and rock artists. Don't forget to buy your special HDFi player for the BEST sound possibleTM!
  5. They look both like the ones from WofW and Robinson Crusoe. WotW came first though...
  6. I loved TMS, but nothing of theirs has grabbed me since. Hope this one is good...
  7. The 'club' isn't for the frugal, as many of the AOTMs can be hit or miss depending on what you like. 'The Crate' membership however, is a pretty good deal for those in the States considering (as other have mentioned) the free shipping.
  8. They have removed the 'essential' label from every release that the club puts out as they were getting too much flack over their choices. Direct from the site: "We want to highlight new artists, essential releases from artists you may have heard of before, as well as a healthy dose of must-have reissues from decades past." At the end of the day, it's not a 'club' that is meant to please everyone, and that's where people get confused. No one is forcing you (I'm using 'you' in the general term, not 'you' ehughes!) to join or to stay. You can cancel your membership at any time, or even just grab a Crate membership and pick up only the exclusives or past AOTM that you missed but want after the fact. I read on their message boards all the time that people are going to 'unsub' because they don't like the genre or the album that month, and it just boggles my mind as to what they thought they were getting into. This isn't VNYL. There is no survey to find out what you like. Within a 5 month span we went from 70's metal, to 2000's neoclassical, to 90's rock, to 60's folk/blues, to 2016 electro-pop. If that idea scares you, then the club isn't for you!
  9. Someone doesn't like how other people spend their money...
  10. I was into the idea of the set before I saw the $60 USD price tag as well... I only want it for the LPs as I have no use for the CD or DVD. I can't even guess what it would cost up here in Canada... probably close to 90-100 CAD.
  11. Nope! Last order I received 6 pieces (Quilt, Forest Swords, Lapsley, Public Memory, Sound of Ceres, The National) and it was packed fairly well with no big issues or customs charges. They have also amended their international shipping to be cheaper. It used to be $7 a pop, now it's $5 for the first additional record, and $3 for each extra piece. Random note, I just noticed that my Mikael Seifu 'Zelalem' order was not included... gotta follow up.
  12. International member here and have been for close to a year now. Always look forward to their AOTM, even if it doesn't resonate with me. Left the store today with Black Mountain, SUUNS, Golden Rules and Sufjan. Wanted more but I really want to gold variant for Yeasayer and deluxe for The Range. May go back for EITS but there are a ton of variants around.
  13. Ordered from Kompakt because what the hell, I want that variant. Grabbed Yesterday and Today while I was at it.
  14. Big The Field fan. I actually enjoyed Cupid's Head so looking forward to this. Hoping a NA preorder shows up soon.
  15. Awesome news, grabbed the loser edition. Don't want to have to search for this in the record stores. Although based in Canada, we are still hit with a nice $20 in shipping and taxes. Bloody hell.
  16. I think it's great. As someone who works for an app company, the ads are just something you need to deal with in the mobile space if you want to survive. Random minor bug, the 'A' at the top of my collection after sorting by 'Artist' disappears. Steps to reproduce: 1) Go to 'Collection' 2) Sort my Artist (a-Z) 3) Go to 'Wantlist' 4) Go back to 'Collection' Note that the list is still sorted by artist but the 'A' is no longer present. Only other recommendation is that there is a ton of negative space on the 'Home' page. I'm on a Nexus 5 and the ad cuts off the text for synchronization and unread messages. Personally, I'd like to see those options and their associated text (i.e., how many unread messages) above the fold, even on the free version. Either way, great job!
  17. Ordered off of .ca which current sits at ~$40CAD. Really hoping this comes down $10 before the ship date. http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B018WS9G7Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 I expect most stores in Toronto to carry this, but for $35-40CAD so I'm comfortable with taking the risk at $40 to ensure I don't have to scramble for it.
  18. My copy, while not as bad as that, is pretty poor quality as well. Audible pops, slightly warped, rough edges. But I guess you get what you pay for...
  19. Thanks Crosley! Although Woman King ain't that great of a steal, I grabbed it. Also, if anyone is thinking of grabbing the new Iggy Pop record, it can be had for $19.99 vis preorder here (not the deluxe version): http://www.amazon.ca/Post-Pop-Depression-Vinyl-Iggy/dp/B01AWMZW6W/ref=sr_1_7?m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1455289700&sr=1-7
  20. Damn straight. This is nice, especially after almost dropping ~$100 on an OG copy of Mirrored.
  21. Definitely into this. Really digging Preserve and L1. Now it's time to decide if the exchange rate for the silver variant is worth it.
  22. Ordered. Cheaper to pay the exchange, shipping and handling than order from .ca
