Record Storage Bags, which are best?
boops_popmarket replied to thetrackt's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
^ It keeps the sleeve sturdy so you can slip the record in and out without bunching or folding the sleeve or its corners. I use MoFis mostly but I slightly prefer the SleevCity version as their paper side is a little sturdier. MoFis still bunch slightly at times. -
Sorry. I had a dream that the thread title said "15% off all vinyl today".

Best record cleaning option for under 200?
boops_popmarket replied to hype's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
For the MKII, I cut out a circle piece of vinyl shelf liner that I got at a craft store for like $4 and I place that over the platter when placing the cleaned side of a record down. -
At least you didn't bump the "RFC All Vinyl is Free!" thread.

Record Storage Bags, which are best?
boops_popmarket replied to thetrackt's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
I was all about the 5 mil for a bit but I realized I actually prefer their economy sleeves. The crystal clear ones look cool and they are high quality but they slip around a ton and I prefer the tighter grip and no-slip qualities of the less clear, more affordable sleeves they sell. For inner sleeves, I had the same experience with their Ultimate Audiophile sleeves. I actually prefer their version that only has one paper side, like the MoFi sleeves, over the Ultimates which have two paper sides. -
Jacked Up is a top 2 for me. It's not "trademark Weezer" but it's fun and the one that I keep singing in my head after Endless Bummer wraps up. The only song I don't like much is (Girl We Got) A Good Thing. It sounds like every mid-tempo jaunty piano song that has ever been proficiently written in a major label recording studio and (as far as I know) it's not on the soundtrack to an early 2000s Ben Stiller romantic comedy so I'm wondering why it even exists.

That Sufjan clear had a huge pressing total and ended up being pretty hard to find under $40. I'd bite the bullet and get a $24 white while its there.

Raffle Tickets from Topshelf Records
boops_popmarket replied to tsr00seth's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
They were responding to questions about the raffle on Twitter around January. They said it would be held after their delayed late-2015 release, forget which band, but there have been no updates in the weeks since all those delayed pre-orders were sent out. -
Very surprised by the restraint and style consistency on this record. Other than Girl We Got a Good Thing and Thank God for Girls (the latter of which I actually like for its off-putting weirdness), they kept all their worst impulses to over-produce things or go full-Radititude in check. EWBAITE, which was a comeback for them and I really liked it, was still ridiculous and genre-hopping despite its quality.

FINALLY! The Vinyl Service for us!

The songs also had less crackling and pops than the first round of thrift store records that VNYL sent out. -
Need some advice, sold a record on eBay
boops_popmarket replied to taylo234's topic in Everything Else Message Board
OP, as hard as it is to do and as well-intentioned as we strangers on the internet can be, please take all the experiences and second-hand stories you hear from us with a grain of salt. When in doubt, always call eBay/PayPal/whatever company and ask them your questions directly. Press 0 on your keypad until you get on the phone with a person who speaks your language and is able to listen to your concerns, and then explain your situation, describe what outcome or risk you are trying to avoid, and ask them for their advice. If what they say sounds odd to you or they aren't quite getting your situation, politely ask them to transfer you to a different associate or a supervisor. If you (or anyone reading this who finds themselves in a similar situation) are having trouble articulating the situation, what your ideal resolution would be, or what outcome you are trying to avoid in a clear, calm manner, then maybe you are still getting a grasp of the situation yourself or your ideal resolution is not as simple or impartial as you think. More times than not, if you do that calmly and you are armed with the simple, clear truth on your side, you will discover that you are covered and will be protected. The rumors about eBay/PayPal forcing you to give a refund without receiving the record back are overblown and often leave out important details. For example, eBay does occasionally let buyers keep the item and also get their money back but the returned money is out of eBay's pocket, NOT the seller's. It's called a courtesy return and eBay usually only does these courtesy returns for long-time users in good standing. It's a courtesy to both the buyer and seller to resolve a situation and leave you both satisfied. Other times, a seller can get the raw end of a deal because they did not communicate during the arbitration process and let an eBay rep auto-close the case for the buyer or they resorted to name-calling or another non-helpful action and, again, made it easy for the eBay rep to close the case for the buyer. There is also the opportunity for an eBay or PayPal rep to make an incorrect decision that goes against their own policy or instructions or to be misled by false information from the buyer, and you will still have the opportunity to rectify that if, again, you are calm and armed with simple, clear facts. All this is said with the goal of encouraging you (and others) to use your agency and use the tools available to you, instead of taking second-hand info and deciding that you're screwed and there's nothing you can do. If eBay is giving you a little extra cash for gas and dates and fun stuff, keep doing it and use this as an opportunity to become a smarter seller. Don't stop because you read nightmare stories on the eBay forums or Google. People out there want the vinyl you are selling! -
FS: White Stripes "De Stijl" and "S/T" (ALL SOLD)

I think it was a smart choice to re-work the songs and limit the track listing to 10. It allows him to release a proper full-length using the songs he wrote over the last two years and it also allows fans to hold onto their 7" sets as a valuable set with some versions of the full length songs and many exclusive songs.

I am in between monthly memberships but I still have access to their store without needing a crate membership. I bought the new Thao and it shipped to me right away on the release date. -
I'm assuming the scratches produce an audible click or sound? If so, I would send him another reminder and wait a few days. If he still hasn't responded or offered to replace the record, open a PayPal claim. PayPal will help you either get a replacement or a refund. If the scratches are just hairline scratches that don't affect the sound, I'd just move on and enjoy the record as-is. You can always post pics of the scratches here and see what others think.
