Fuck that rarity upcharge. If I liked the band any less I wouldn't buy it. But of course, I went ahead and bought it.

kisol reacted to twatay in [PO] Deafheaven // Sunbather – 10 Year Remaster
Good read. Obviously the author is uber butthurt. Ultimately the article boils down to a rant on selling out. This is not new. An old debate IMO. Apparently DH's Ray-Ban campaign was the straw that broke the author's back. Whatever, kinda funny to me. There's also a bit of the 'old man yells at cloud ' sort of thing going on.
The fact is DH caught lightning in a bottle with Sunbather. It was the right album at the right time. I remember being blown away the first time I heard 'Dreamhouse' before the album even came out. It was a quantum leap from their debut. Surely, the refined and easy on the eyes artwork helped as well. Deafheaven brings it live too. They have one of the best drummers and a very charismatic front man. It's also easy to see why some in the scene would be put off by and/or be jealous of them.
EDIT: Also, he's full of shit when he claims the people who went to see Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Meat Puppets, etc didn't listen to Nirvana. That is total horse shit.

It's not elitist to not want to perform random acts of kindness for strangers on the internet. Tip: If you want to use a community as a resource you must first integrate. Plenty of people would be willing to do this for members they know instead of some person who's gonna get all snippy because they didn't get their way.
That's a Panda Bear song. Nice "joke" though lol

J. Bannon "Dunedevil" 300 Page Art Book and Wear Your Wounds companion album
For one week J. Bannon resided in the C-Scape Dune Shack (formerly known as the Cohen Shack) within the Peaked Hill Bars National Register Historical District in Provincetown, Massachusetts. This primitive environment inspired an outpouring of abstract mixed media work, photography, and music. The visual material from the experience is presented as “Dunedevil” by J. Bannon. Available as a nearly 300 page “smyth sewn” art book and Kindle edition, with a forward by acclaimed artist Thomas Hooper.
Each day, the skeleton of a song was recorded using a portable recording device powered by a Goal Zero solar power setup. The sounds were captured through an Apogee Duet using a Critter & Guitari mini piano, Martin Jr. guitar, assorted effects pedals, and a Shure SM7B microphone. Mike Mckenzie graciously played additional guitar on “Be Still My Heart” at a later date. All songs were then refined and mixed during the winter of 2016, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. These recordings are presented as “Dunedevil”, an experimental album from Wear Your Wounds. Available on vinyl and digital formats.
