  1. got it on CD upon release, didn't have a working record player at the time. Saw the Birthday Suit play Camden Barfly a few years back, was a smallish crowd but got a photo and a quick chat with Rod after the show. Fantastic night all round.
  2. Quite a lot of dissent from old school Idlewild fans about everything simply because they've refused to release "100 Broken Windows 2" in my experience. The first Roddy Solo album was pure gold though, the others I can take or leave (maybe I just need to invest more time in them). In a similar vein I'd love to see Rod Jones' solo albums (love all of them) and The Birthday Suit get a vinyl release at some point but I'm filing that with "Things that'll never happen" department in my mind.
  3. Idlewild - Warnings / Promises The only Idlewild studio album that never was pressed to vinyl, admittedly this was around the point when vinyl sales had started to trough but it's an under rated gem.
  4. I have a week to find significantly more than that as I'm from the UK and at the same time most of my money is tied up in some probably ill-advised high price auctions for some personal white whales. Also one of my favourite bands just released a pre-order which cost me £60 and I'm not getting paid until the 31st so I'm guessing I'll miss it. I'll cope though.
  5. WANT. Hope this isn't for a while from a financial stand point.
  6. had a pretty baleful experience with Warner Music Group yesterday when Biffy Clyro's Warner Run official store crashed as the pre-order for the deluxe version the band's new album Elipsis went live. Not only did the store grind to a halt under what I assume was very heavy traffic hundreds of customers have seemingly been left out in the cold with no idea whether their orders went through. Some people out of sheer frustration opened multiple orders have stated they've ended up being charged for five but had no confirmations. I myself after three hours of battling ended up with a paypal receipt but no official word from the WMG run store and I've spent all morning trying to chase them on this for an answer only to find that the email listed on the paypal account isn't even active. How a major league player like WMG could be that unprepared for heavy internet traffic is beyond me. I hope I get an email explaining that my order will be honoured but after this mess I can see it being a while before anything is said or cleared up.
  7. I was pretty certain something like this was going to wind up happening as soon as they announced details of the packaging design which is a shame because as a concept I think its a really cool idea. Still looking forward to this though, let's face it the design can't be any worse than Dyed In The Wool Ghost. New bits they've shared so far sound tight.
  8. God damn I want to get in on this but I'm currently all tied up in some whale-hunting on ebay. Guess this re-issue is also the final nail in the coffin for my RHP Box 2 theory as well. If I lose my bidding this will be my consolation prize.
  9. Lonely Revolutions by Biffy Clyro which is a B-sides compilation from their Only Revolutions Era. I was on holiday when it dropped and sold out in 2 days, one time only pressing. Sells for about £350-£400. Even the CDs go for about £80-£100 these days (glad I got that when I did). Likely I'll never spend that much on one item and if I did I'd probably end up going into insane collector mode and try and complete my already large collection with first imprints of their albums (which run to £100 a piece), their early 7"s (£20-£30 a piece) and then the white whale cd's they recorded when they were at college "Iname" and "Thekidswhopoptodaywillrocktomorrow" which go for £600 and £500 respectively these days. Overall I've resigned myself to never having these things but I still flirt with the idea.....
  10. Got my Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand re-issue a day ago, haven't spun it yet, saving it for Friday night.
  11. After ordering I've been binge listening to everything to hype myself up but I will confess the long track times have me at feverish levels of anticipation. Would love for some really heavy stuff with some Akerfeldt-ian screaming (doesn't have to be Akerfeldt but I don't think it'll ever be Jonas again) but even if it treads the same mellower path of Dead End Kings I'll be happy. There's little in their whole discography that I dislike so whatever this turns out like I'm sure it'll be worth the investment.
  12. It is Translucent Grey was the rarest on release and was out of 500.
  13. Yeah I get that you can leave whenever it suits its more that I've seen nothing that tickles my fancy that I don't already have. My interests being slightly more fringe/metal based and living in the UK make most subscriptions ill suited to me. The only exception I'd make would probably be a sub to a label like the Flenser or maybe The Native Sound as I normally end up getting most of their releases anyway.
  14. Based on what their website will let you see before you subscribe there's just not enough to get me to opt in. Would recommend Spectres - Dying to anyone who is looking for something to gamble on though, great album (I got the translucent grey when it first came out).
  15. Hey man cheers for the offer, that is really generous of you considering how new I am around here. I had totally spaced that the Manson release was a cassette, I'm guessing at $10 sealed the version of Mechanical Animals is also a cassette right? I don't really do cassettes. If on the off chance you're talking about vinyl (highly unlikely at those tantalizing prices) PM me and we can talk logistics.
  16. Yes they did the same art book double 10" & CD set for Dead End Kings, I have it and being a fan of the bands art I've gotta say its a lovely set. Pre-ordered the art book this time around too.
  17. Was almost tempted by a few bits but nothing is really strong enough to justify the hours and discomfort waiting about in the streets. If it was Mechanical Animals instead of Anti-Christ Superstar by Manson I'd probably have gone.
  18. Thanks for all the links guys I will do some research and see what works out cheapest or try to utilize some self control and only spring for YFM and one or two other faves
  19. I'm aware Converge and Deathwish Inc. are really good for keeping things in print so it's not the difficulty of hunting down a copy of each album but more to do with the cost. 6 LPs @ $20 a piece +Shipping to the UK is a big investment.
  20. This is why I'm flirting with the idea, I'm no variant hunter but buying one is likely to send me off into a tangent where I need one of each.
  21. If this is legit this is the first thing that intrigues me about RSD 2016.
