  1. I've heard in interviews that Victory wanted to simply repackage and re-release Keasbey Nights for it's 10th anniversary and Kalnoky thought that was a terrible idea. So he opted to rerecord it with Streetlight. Listen to the hidden track on Streetlight's version. He originally planned to never sell or promote the album at shows but once again ate his words. Also, rerecording the album kind of took the songs back from Catch 22.
  2. Andrew Jackson Jihad live at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago, IL 06-22-2010: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1XM9P4MN (The bass makes my camera clip so the audio is poor in places but the energy of the sold out show makes up for it.) 01 - Spare Change (I don't know the exact title of this song as it is new) 02 - Brave as a Noun, Survival, Murderer, Love in the Time of Human Papillomavirus 03 - Jesus Saves, Love Will Fuck Us Apart, Sense & Sensibility 04 - Gift of the Magi Part II 05 - We Didn't Come Here To Rock 06 - People II (The Reckoning) 07 - Growing Up 08 - Heartilation 09 - Lady Liberty 10 - Personal Space Invader 11 - Cigarette Song 12 - Comments About Dry Heat, White People, And Ecores (Banter) 13 - No More Tears 14 - Candle in the Wind (Ben's Song) 15 - Thanks 16 - Principito Andrew Jackson Jihad live at Mad Maggies in Elgin, IL 06-21-2010 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NETEAYKS (This turned out very well. No bass clipping here. I neglected to press the record button long enough for "Heartilation." Hence its absence.) 01 - Rejoice, Brave as a Noun, Olde(y) Tyme(y) 02 - Get Your Shit Together Kazoo Orchestra (Banter) 03 - The Skateboarding Song (A new song; I don't know the name) 04 - Jesus Saves 05 - Love Will Fuck Us Apart 06 - John David's Attempted Knockout (Banter) 07 - Gift of the Magi Part II 08 - All The Dead Kids, Unicorn 09 - People II (The Reckoning) 10 - Opening Band Thank Yous and Skate Well (Banter) 11 - David J is a Sickness, Love in the Time of Human Papillomavirus 12 - High Fructose Corn Syrup, Growing Up 13 - Paying 8 Bucks (Banter) 14 - Spare Change (A new song, I don't know the name) 15 - Lady Liberty 16 - So Mad At You, Happy Birthday, Principito
  3. Please invest in all the releases from The Filthy Thieving Bastards (which is nearly the entire Swingin' Utters crew playing folk/punk/60's pop/celtic/Pogues-style songs.) Also "Dead Flowers, Bottles, Bluegrass and Bones" is a fine selection.
  4. I saw this at the Illinois shows as well. I was tempted to buy it considering it's hand made but I didn't have the cash. After asking permission, I did record the Beat Kitchen show and the Mad Maggies show. They're posted HERE. They played 3 songs that I've never heard before. A song about skateboarding, Lady Liberty from the 1070 Protest Compilation (A Line in the Sand) and "Gift of the Magi (II) (which Sean describes as a particularly hateful song.) In related news, you can download Mp3's the shows here: The Beat Kitchen, Chicago, IL 06-22-2010 (The bass is too much for my camera and distorts the audio here. But otherwise it turned out well because the audience was very enthusiastic.) Mad Maggies, Elgin, IL, 06-21-2010 (The audio for this turned out extremely well.) Lastly, Ben addresses the pressing of "Candy, Cigarettes, and Cap Guns" at the Beat Kitchen show: "It might come out sometime in the future but probably not, so don't get your hopes up." Boo.
  5. I forgot people liked that album. I think it's one of their finest since it touches on the "softcore" tendencies of their first album as opposed to the punk/rock influences of later albums. I'm rather surprised at the negative reactions to it.
  6. They actually tried not to use so much CGI for the film. All the characters are costumes, with their facial expressions being CGI. That's incredible. I was expecting more from the film though considering the creative forces behind it. Anyway, I watched "Bad Lieutenant" for a second time. I thoroughly enjoy that movie as it is one of the few acceptable Nicholas Cage movies. My friend hated and made jokes about it the whole time. That gets annoying.
  7. I just found out that one of my coworkers used to work the door at an old punk club and saw GG Allin a few times. He knew to keep his distance from the stage.
  8. 7" = Good Idea Ska is Dead Series = Good Idea Best of Albums = Terrible Idea They should skip this and just press "Keep it Going" on double vinyl.
  9. Thanks for posting this. I am still in need of purchasing "Animal." I guess I'll pick this up too.
  10. I finally watched "Coffee and Cigarettes." The Tom Waits/Iggy Pop sequence is absolutely wonderful. I saw "Synecdoche, New York" at the Chicago Film Festival Premiere and Charlie Kaufman had a Q&A afterward. 'Twas an interesting time.
  11. I agree. The first album I bought from them was "Dead Bottles..." and it still blows me away. I've always respected the fact that they give into their influences and integrate more "non-punk" styles.
  12. Finally! A new album. Now please follow it up quickly with a new release from The Filthy Thieving Bastards.
  13. Yes, the discs are numbered but I'm not sure out of how many.
  14. I know it's out on tape. I'm assuming that the vinyl is in the works too (at least that was the plan as of January.) I prefer vinyl over tape.
  15. Go Blackhawks. Nice job Canadiens. Will it come down to a series from two of the Original Six? That would be exciting.
  16. It's available on CD through interpunk. I can't wait for the vinyl. Also, Mischief Brew and Andrew Jackson Jihad are playing Crucial Fun Fest in Lexington, Kentucky. Shoot, that's quite a drive from Chi-town.
  17. My suggestion for Vegas is having a few drinks and walking around absorbing the sights and different designs of the casinos. Gambling is a joke. It's a straight loss. I didn't even get served drinks. Also, collect some hooker cards. Also the Pirates of TI show is pretty badass. The exhibits at the Luxor are mighty interesting too.
  18. I have to see this again. Perhaps I will like it better. Whiplash didn't have much screen time and the final battle was too simple. There was a lot of momentum building toward the confrontation and then... bleh. But hell yes for the cast. Better than the first, I think not.
  19. Yes, there are two versions. I have the "St. Patty's Day Green Vinyl" first pressing and the other is the gatefold version.
  20. Why the hell is Gogol Bordello not opening at the Rave? Dammit. A road trip to Ohio might now be in order. Hooray for gypsy punk.
  21. Natalie Portman is starring in this. I'M THERE.
  22. I hate when you preorder an album, it's released, and you still don't receive it until weeks later. I'm thinking of Gogol Bordello and Streetlight Manifesto here. If you're going to offer a PREorder, you should damn well have it ready by the time it's released. There's no surprise to how many orders you have waiting BECAUSE THEY'VE ALREADY BEEN PLACED. Frustration!
  23. Having horrible shoddy, novice guitar "skills" is part of the fun though, right? These aren't suppose to be epic covers, right? RIGHT? I hope not.
  24. this. first one was incredible, but i think they should just leave it there. In my drunken state, I must ask if you avatar is Bruce Campbell. It looks like him but I'm not sure. I've always wanted to know this. And I'm fairly confident in Pixar's originality to come up with a sequel to Monster's Inc. "Up" was quite splendid.
