I own a few Burzum albums, so I guess it’s pretty hypocritical for me to be a dick about people listening to this band.

I dunno, the main person in the band being a sex offender is a pretty reasonable reason to stop listening and supporting them.

Oh yeah, I hear ya. I mostly just know that* as a failed Modest Mouse ripoff band anyway and have never quite understood the hype too much. Or at least them being as hyped as they were around here. *them

I feel like him being a sex pervert weirdo was an open secret way before it became widely known a couple years ago. I had never heard Brand New until after he was outed and don’t know anyone in real life who likes them but somehow knew about his proclivity for young girls for the longest time.

Totally cool with shorter albums since I don’t have a lot of time to listen to music for the time being. I’ll check it out.

I really enjoyed Down in the Weeds but it definitely sounds like a Nate and Mike album with Conor singing and not a Conor album. I think a lot of the live performances they did around that album kind of displayed that with Mike and Nate playing most of the instruments and Conor occasionally hopping in on keyboard. Totally get where you are coming from though. And I hope people aren’t annoyed that I am bumping both of these Bright Eyes threads that are going on right now.

I’m not too sure if it will totally be your thing or if I’m crazy and they aren’t actually kind of similar, but Another Reason To Fast by Smoke is a great album. Clean White Bed is my favorite song by them. I went through the first few songs that are on their Spotify page. I’m going to check out more on my drive home from work.

The mockup makes it looks super similar to the version in the Bright Eyes 2000-2011 box that Saddle Creek did a few years ago. I wonder how close the new version will actually be.

I always thought this band was some campfire alternative radio folk band like Lumineers for some reason. They aren’t too bad. The stuff I listened to reminds me of Smoke a bit.

I somehow missed that SDRE are going to tour. So stoked now. I am seeing Jeremy Enigk with Appleseed Cast and Cursive next week and am looking forward to it.

I really don’t like the new versions that are up on Spotify. I can’t stand when people soak everything in reverb. I’ll hold out on cancelling them until I hear more but really don’t like that. The originals of all of those are damn near perfect imo.

I was wondering about that when I was scrabbling to order these while brushing my teeth. Letting Off the Happiness is one of my favorite albums ever so grabbed black either way.

This album blew my mind when I was like 17. I forget about it for years at a time, remember and listen to it a ton for a couple months and then forget about it again. I’m really tempted to buy this but don’t feel like spending $33 before shipping right now.
