This one is dedicated on ONTRAC, the world's best delivery service.

Instead of wondering what was inside my package, like I do with most deliveries, OnTrac provided me with a neat preview hole in the center of the box.

As soon as I lifted the record, I could feel all the great classic Nirvana tracks swooshing around inside.

The store listing said 5 pieces were included but I got 7.  That's TWO extra pieces of record for free.  I will have to assume that OnTrac negotiated these additional bonus shards for me, as a way of saying thanks for using their service for my record shopping.

Yeah.  I framed the record instead of listening to it.  I have Spotify if I want to hear Pennyroyal Tea on the acoustic guitar.  To me, vinyl is physical art and, thanks to OnTrac, I am able to hang my art proudly in all it's compartmentalized glory.

Lately users have been editing their FS/FT threads once a deal is set in motion, usually completely erasing the OP as well as changing the thread title to 'DELETE' or 'SOLD'.
We don't look fondly upon this. If for some reason a sale goes awry a large amount of evidence proving said deal took place is now disrupted. The same reason we disabled the ability to delete threads applies here. If a sale or trade is complete and both the seller and buyer can prove this then I have no problem deleting the thread. Please keep sale/trade threads intact until the deal is complete. Simply updating your thread title or OP stating an item is no longer available should detour other curious buyers from messaging you or bumping your thread. Worst case scenario; you receive a message or thread bump you don't have to respond to. Yes clutter can be bothersome but it's never been an issue or more important than protecting our users from potential scams.
    Thanks.

The idea of attaching speakers to a turntable seem like a dumb one, regardless of how pointless the gimmick of a vertical turntable is.

A work in progress. Ikea file folder/shelving units. I took the front doors off and installed pine dividers (screwed through the top) so there wouldn't be too many records left to right. Still would rather have front facing storage but I'm not crafty enough to build one and don't want to spend the $500 on a bin. Found a local guy who sells wine crates for $7-9. Unfortunately the small crates are about 1/2" to narrow so I had to use the longer ones sideways. Not the most efficient but it's convenient.

obviously we're missing a lot of pics and pressings. If you have anything that's missing, send me a pm and I'll add it to the discography.

Even reporting a postal worker will do nothing. I had a maillady literally hoard 6 records in the back of the PO for no reason. She would scan them as "delivered" but not leave them. And then she would leave a note saying they were at the leasing office, but they weren't. I got in arguments with the ladies that worked over there since I would go back and forth from the leasing office to the PO. Finally a manager that actually cared had me write a letter of complaint, but nothing. One day I went there and said "I'm not leaving until you find my records". After 2 hrs, the manager found them way in the back in a "return to sender" pile she had started. I moved because of this and a few other mishaps. Nothing was done. I just didn't have the enery to keep up with the complaint.

I also don't think this warrants a post in this thread - maybe read through some of the real terrible shit that has gone down.

I think you have a poor attitude as a seller. That's your customer and you should follow their wishes or cancel the order if you cannot meet their expectations. Fact is that many sellers don't know how to ship a record and seam splits occur. Buyer was probably fed up with it and sends the same instructions to all sellers. It's a smart move.

Especially since it's so easily avoidable, as long as you don't care about your record being sealed. Which you shouldn't, because you're going to play it, RIGHT?

Had a buyer send me a short novel on how to properly package a record in order to avoid seam splits. Makes you want to charge extra for shipping.

I've "listened to" a couple of slipmats and an acrylic platter this way on my old Debut. Every time I fully expected it to be broken, every time it was fine. That doesn't mean that it cannot damage the stylus the first time it happens though.

    Good advice.
Just keep in mind it's an LP60.
So even if the stylus is damaged, I'd use this as an opportunity to buy another turntable. One that isn't horrible

Post office could not have given less of a shit. Two different employees basically said "Yeah. People fish packages out of the drop boxes. Don't use them." Since the package was never scanned as accepted and was (likely) stolen before they even picked it up, they are clear that they never had it and it's not anything to do with them.
So, for other sellers and people who use mail, if you want your package to make it to the destination, bring it in person and make sure you see it being scanned in by an employee. If at anytime before it is scanned in as accepted, even after you've handed it to a postal worker or a postal worker ships it off without scanning, they have zero liability. Even if you buy insurance, if an employee does not scan the item as received, the insurance won't accept your claim.
To the USPS, even if it's in their drop box or on their counter or on a truck, if it isn't scanned, they never had it. And apparently postal theft is your responsibility to report it to the postal inspector and tell them to build a case for it. Otherwise, they shrug and say "Not my fault". Makes me want to consider stealing mail if it's the customer's job to be the detective and solve postal theft crimes themselves.

I shipped two different shirts in two packages via First Class and dropped them off at the mailbox on my street corner- one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Oddly, they both never had their tracking info update and, after two weeks of no real help from the local post office, they never arrived to my buyers so I refunded both buyers and assumed the packages were lost.

Tonight, I'm walking down the street with my girlfriend and I notice a sticker on the floor that looks a lot like the stickers I put in my packages. It's the exact same one. I look a few feet away and I see a dirty, empty bubble envelope...that has my address and the buyer's address on it.

So, to recap, two weeks after I drop them off at a post office box, I find one of my two missing packages on the street a few blocks away from my house. Envelope is torn open, shirt missing, and envelope and sticker inside just discarded on sidewalk.  Second package is still MIA.

No idea what happened here. Dropped by a post man and scavenged by a hobo? Stolen from post office box? Planning on going to post office tomorrow with the envelope and asking them what they think happened and whether a stranger opening my lost package a few blocks from where I left it with the USPS's box is of any importance to them.

^ You've made about 4-5 leaps and assumptions based off one vague eBay message.  I would slow your mind down and let the situation present itself more clearly.

Start with the assumption that the buyer is being honest and that he quickly messaged you because he wants to get this resolved quickly.

Email them back and apologize for the condition it arrived in and assure them that you'll resolve it fairly.  Then, ask them to send you a few clear photos of both sides of the record, the box it arrived in, and a sound recording of the skips.  If you accuse them of lying, it is going to be much harder to get info from them.  If you empathize with them and let them know you need the info to help them with their return or refund, they'll be more likely to send the photos and sound clip.

If you are nice and sympathetic to their problem and they refuse to provide you with that info or they give you a weird, sketchy blurry photo or change their story...then maybe you can start with the red flag hunt.

But let's hope that they are being honest and that they send you the photos, etc....

If it doesn't look too warped, you can help them troubleshoot their turntable setup or just give them a return.  If you're right about having the magic ability to 100% guarantee that no record you send can ever get warped or damaged in transit ( ), then you'll receive a perfect copy back that you can re-sell.

If it's warped and busted, then something happened to it.  Either it was damaged in transit or the seller damaged it within an hour for some unknown reason.  It would be up to you whether those $25 are worth investigating this guy and making sure he is 100% being honest or whether your time and continuing to live your life and maintain good feedback is worth more.

    Packages do get damaged.

The other alternative, which some VC folks might suggest, is to wash your hands of this entirely and tell them "TOO BAD SO SAD" and then let eBay rule on it.  If eBay rules in their favor, you can come up with an eBay pun like evilBay and rage against the machine for the rest of your days.

I sell cheap used records on Discogs from collections I buy. I've sold over 5,000 records this year with only 2 dick bags that caused me no stress because of the stress they caused themselves. It was quite entertaining, actually. That and the sick profit I've made, totally worth dealing with noobs who rarely, if ever, complain. This is just a side hobby, too, so it's killer pocket cash.
