diabretic reacted to jrodan in WHIRR - Sway LP (out on 9/23) and Pipe Dreams Redux
so can we at least stop pretending that the vocals for this band live exist? saw the SF record release show and instrumentally it sounded as good as any show ive been to in a long time. but the vocals? there were none. dude was flapping his lips most the time, but literally nothing was coming out. i was standing right by the sound board and those dudes were confused as hell. i took some video from the show just so you can see how ridiculous the "vocals" were.

Huh? How does taking money upfront change your ability to meet demand for the better, or at all? How would things not go smoother if you have your shit together before you open up shop? The quantity pressed was stated upfront, so you're not adjusting your order sized based on preorders. So aside from being getting paid a few months early by a few thousand The Hobby!!! collectors who will, at best, be patient (LOL nope), and at worst, complain publicly about inevitable delays (if you announce them) or send you tons of emails and speculate on message boards (if you decide to leave them in the dark), what are the advantages of doing preorders, exactly?

I'm curious on the advantages of preordering as well. Please enlighten us. I remember having to wait Damn near eight months for my have gun will travel preorder and now looking back that's kind of messed up to take people's money for that long.

You can laugh out loud, but I feel like SRC has established itself well enough to be able to do that. Most labels use pre-orders to fund the pressing, but with the amount of records y'all press and sell you could front the money for the pressing and have all of it ready to go before you ever post them on the site and eliminate the pre-order process all together. Which would make people very happy.

this is why you don't do PREORDERS.
live and learn SRC. get them in hand---->post items for sale---->roll around in your $$$ while your customers are happy with the quick ship turnaround

Surely he knew that was a huge possibility. You can't send something to 300 people on the internet and assume every single one of them is an honest person. -

We're sending pre-orders out starting Tuesday morning so you'll have the full album well before the release date as well.
It's just a nice thing to reward those that trust my musical taste enough to throw $150 up front my way.
Your support is very much so appreciated though and I hope you enjoy the album when it hits you next week.

I have already pre ordered this album and gave graveface more than a measly few bucks. Why not send everyone who ordered a download and put it up for purchase for that measly few bucks? Whatever.

Got my refund from my initial order. At least they have relatively speedy customer service. Glad all that extra shipping is going somewhere.

diabretic got a reaction from Duff in Tony Stewart Hits and Kills Driver
He used to be known for his temper problems, I'm sure he's not the most calm and collected guy but it's been a while since anything newsworthy has happened involving his temper. I am a huge nascar fan, and after watching the video several times, I don't think he did it on purpose. And there's also no way to prove the revved engine sound is coming from tony's car. The crash wasn't even Tony's fault, so I don't know why he would have been mad enough to even try to throw dirt or scare the other guy. This was at a track Tony doesn't race at every week, like the other guy does. The other guy swerved and missed the victim, but he was walking towards tony's car, in a black firesuit on a dark track. I would place maybe 5% of the blame on Tony, but maybe not even that much. Sprint cars have direct drive motors that you have to push off to start, that's why he didn't completely stop or slow way down, it's just something that those cars don't do very well. They are basically engines with wheels.

Tony is exactly that type of twat.

diabretic reacted to Satan in Tony Stewart Hits and Kills Driver
Just my two cents after watching this a few times, but it doesn't look intentional. you can see how the car fishtails away from the driver and not into him and if you listen, Tony's car revs up (and fishtails away) not before, but after the collision.
I think Tony saw him at the last possible second and tried to swerve but couldnt do it in time.

RJ secretly works for SRC and retained the rights to do represses. That's my conspiracy theory and I'm sticking to it.
