Just bought a house in Nashville, finally have everything in order. My record shelf is a piece that my grandmother gave me that she used to store her VHS tapes in, so stoked on it with my collection inside. The Victrola in the corner isn't currently working (my Mom's best friend was going to throw it away). So I turned it into a bar and will get it fixed when I get some extra cash.

When my GF got these shelves built, I looked at them, and said I will never fill these (my collection at that time filled about 6-7 holes).
Things escalated quickly.

I like how clean that all looks with all of the white. That being said, that's probably the worst possible location for your sub...

Maybe that is outside of some people's realm of music so they don't know about it? Seeing as they only really bootleg shitty top 40 rap. I'm not sure how this guy is getting downvotes - these are illegal pressings. Castlevania games might collectively have some of my favorite non-Zelda video game songs but I really don't see the point in buying from this dude. Might as well start buying DVDs from the random bootleggers standing around NYC.

Nope, not kidding.
He really is making loads of money off copyrighted material.

Here's what I'm working with (plus some ATH M50s that aren't pictured because they were on my head):
The shelf was one of my first woodworking projects, built at a friend's shop. The wood itself came from a century-old piano and the Unknown Pleasures art was engraved by a CNC machine.
I've been collecting for around eight years but my collection is quite small (two top left compartments are full). I attribute that to the fact that I have a few other expensive hobbies and the prices of records + shipping to Canada has gone up drastically over the last few years.

Over 5000 posts, member since 2008, have to assume this is a joke?

Fresh coat of paint, and voila! My latest DIY display project!
Can display about 16-20 records with easy access to spin them as well.
Oh and castaway, I love that "now playing" display!!

Built this 7"/Cat storage a few weeks ago - wanted to try a smaller one before I dove into making the full-size one.
really happy with how it turned out and managed to sneak a storage drawer into it.

Brother, I don't think eBay covered the refund. "Seller was quick & helpful with refund. Thanks." Looks like it came out of the sellers pocket no? Judging from the story, the seller looks to have gotten screwed on this. You could always message the guy, in fact eBay double checks you and asks, "are you sure you want to leave negative or neutral feedback." At least give the guy a shot at making it up to you. This might sound trite but some people actually depend on those sales to put dinner on the table

gabpower reacted to zeb_enjoys_vinyl in cartridge thread that y'all are gonna hate
It has worked perfectly fine with other turntables with different cartridges... Anyway this was more of a troll thread as I had the plan to get a linear tracking turntable and sell the Pro-Ject as I've been discouraged with this almost since I got it but if people took it seriously they may of had a fix of my problem... thanks y'all lmao

I snapped a few pics before playing some Puscifer this morning. The TT sits in a 4x2 Kallax unit. Yes, I have 2 units stacked on top of one another. A2x2is stacked (and secured) on top on the 4x2.
I left the divider out on the top shelf area. I then cut a piece of black laminated MDF to the same size as the Ikea shelf. Then all I needed was a couple "soft close" drawer glides. I painted them black, then screwed the drawer glides to the new shelf and to the Ikea shelf. Its nice if you want to keep the dustcover on. You slide the shelf out, lift the cover and place LP,then just pop the cover back down and slide it back in.
I also added some leds as well. They really help tonsee if the LP is dirty etc. They lights are RGB, so they can be switched to any color. Great for holidays lol. I just leave it on white usually.

gabpower reacted to Kristorial in Record player running a little too fast.
Yeah i ended up taking the plate off and taking a look. It is an idler wheel with three different speed steppes on the motor spindle. I cleaned off the motor spindle and the rubber idler and that helped it a little bit. It wasn't quite there yet so i took a file, ran the motor, and ground the spindle down until it was registering at approximately 33 rpms. Judge me all you want, haha, but remember, if it's stupid, but it works, then it ain't stupid. Thanks for your help everybody!
