Hopefully the complete lack of interest here in the Dark Crystal OST matches with real-world demand. With The Labyrinth getting a wide release later this year, this would make a great companion piece.

It was released by TimeBomb and not sub pop, which is my guess to why we haven't seen this pressed since day 1. Gatefold and clear vinyl seems like a proper release though, can't wait to get it.

I know it doesn't account for much, but I couldn't get a straight answer from the guys at the Sub Pop shop in Seattle one way or another about a wider release. Apparently they're not getting told much, either.

Well damnit. Outside of Space Jam, this is all I would buy. 
 

Appreciate all the insightful responses to my question, and I'm glad to see a lot of people are grabbing the album for reasons that stretch beyond mob buzz, hivemind mentality, or general elusiveness of the album on vinyl.

For me, Gorillaz is nostalgic and reminds me of 2005 and what I was into at the time. I listened to DD the other day, and it still grooved; but I'm not sure I would feel the same way if it was released today.
 
As for VMP, it makes sense that this sold out with their 20k+(or more?) already existing members, and new sign-ups. They have stated that they want to reduce the runs of the ROTM and try to put value on actually being a member versus trying to hunt an album down in the aftermarket for 1/2 price. It is yet to be seen if this works... but I'm sure you will find a handful of DD in the aftermarket from members not interested in it. You just may have to pay a little premium (until there is inevitably a black press...)
 
Also, love the salt around people thinking VMP is curating peoples listening habits. I subscribe because I have the disposable income to get a random record each month that someone thinks I should listen to. This is no different than walking into a record store and asking the clerk what they recommend this month. For me, VMP is 50/50 and while a lot of packages are spot on, the music doesn't hit for me (Lapsley, Nada Surf, Wilco). But I'm ok with this as the rest of my dough goes to albums I know I want. 

There should be a link to select your swap in the announcement email you get or it can be done in the VMP Store. Still have a lot of good options in there; wouldn't mind that Black Sabbath or BBNG.

Now that 1 month subscriptions are up I bet few referral links will be clicked...but if you're feeling generous, May's ROTM is being hyped up too

Pepperidge Farm remembers

Getting a SRC copy of Say Hello from someone on Discogs was the whole reason I got into the label. Luckily the local shop gets enough from them, so I really could just let them accept the risk if I didn't want to.
 
that being said, I ordered 5 records from them at once and they arrived immaculately packed. When 4/5 were $15-17, I really couldn't pass it up. Maybe I just got lucky.

Let me just say that the VMP boards are kinda scary. I thought VC had a cult-like mentality in some ways, but it's nothing compared to VMP; y'all were right. Everyone has a seemingly infinite supply of money and a TIDAL subscription to match, buying every record that they think isn't bad and probably spinning it once. 
 
I like it way better over here, score one for VC. 

Where the fuck is Who Cares?

There are negatives to EVERYTHING. There will be always be people that criticize and and bring out those faults. Some are merited and some not so much.
That being said. I LOVE record store day. I love sitting in line, talking about vinyl, collecting and experiences. Yes they are gimmicky releases. So what?! There are so many releases, that I always find something I like. I realize people have had bad experiences, but that's in the minority. Go to the shops day of, and ask. People have fun. 
 

Nope. Totally agree with you. We're all rabid fans here and there. Even if the FJM is totally not my thing, I ended up getting a lot of potentially interesting things. Life will move on.

Just an observation:
 
I checked out the VMP message board last night and noticed a palpable over-excitedness and  hive mentality. Elevated excitement over mediocre artists on a different color of wax... it's like they're VC on meth-infused steroids.

You're my hero. I was just lamenting how expensive Everglow was on Discogs and found your post. Now I guess I'll get to see how great they are...skipped on Destination, but I'll have to keep my eyes open for Singularity.

It's ironic I see so much vitriol about SRC, even if it might be well-deserved. Had literally no issue with my last order from them. Shipped 4 days ago (within 2 days of ordering) and I'll most likely be getting my 5 records either tomorrow or Wednesday. I lurked long enough to learn that buying anything on their store that they didn't press would be a major mistake.
 
But what's annoying is getting daily emails from them mentioning they have pretty much the same exact quantity of NME, but HURRY BECAUSE THEY'RE ALMOST GONE. Now watch that counter go towards one and magically grow a couple extra zeros at the end...

EWBAITE and White are definitely worth your time, like he said. Looking forward to Black, or whatever the project ends up being.
