  1. I'm ok with that. Segments of the fanbase and pick and choose, and the prospect of having to charge everyone for a boxset treatment making it a 100+ dollar purchase (closer to double that in today's market tbh) is avoided completely. And, if one of the pressings suck, it's way easier to replace.
  2. JPC is great (because they're German and they use DHL which is the best of the all the couriers IMO). I would have maybe waited for one of the periodic discount coupons they throw at you if you're on their mailing list. The usual discount is 20% which tends to cover the shipping cost. YMMV. Then again I appreciate that deluxe editions sell out in advance.
  3. Maybe not the biggest sale ever but Gorillaz - Humanz is at 22.45 19.84CAD right now and has been falling for days. If it dips closer to the 20 dollar margin I might snap it up.
  4. I rate him way more highly than other "pop alt-country" like Fleet Foxes or Mumford and Sons. I compare him to Phosphorescent more.
  5. It would have at least been of value to me if the sonic content were appreciably different. Hearing two tracks on 45rpm isn't worth the upsell. Compared to the history or 12"s bundled with albums on release, it's low on the value scale IMO.
  6. I find the master is too "hot" for my tastes. Yes, I was actually expecting a different mix at very least, and it so happens I was not scouring the internet looking for exact details to realize the difference of a few bars of extra music is not actually worth it ahead of purchase. If we're at "shame on me for buying on good faith" with this hobby with a reputable artist on a reputable label upselling you a waste of a 12" that shamelessly then the hobby is FUBAR tbh. As if there aren't enough other things to complain about the hobby these days, from the mastering stage and on...
  7. What's wrong with the OP plates? Is it a CD master or a victim of over-compression? I'll take a listen to it again but it's a lot better than the 22, A Million pressing, with that shittiest-bundle-of-all-time 12" (A less-than-4-minute-song on BOTH sides!!!!!!!!!) that I'm still mad about.
  8. Uh-oh Spaghetti-O. And here I thought the line might be manageable given the shitty options. 8 out of first ten lined up at the store will be U2 fans now. :|
  9. Yeah the vast majority are a waste of time and totally bogus "value".
  10. I love how many different styles each song plays with, and how he switches up his singing style often all while somehow maintaining a lot of consistency too. This is an album about stylistic dexterity. It's like a long list of lo-fi epics ranging from Ram to The Glow Pt. 2 or anything Lou Barlow/Mark Kozelek. If this becomes a serious contender for AOTY I won't be surprised.
  11. 19.38 quid at Juno Records but they don't do preorder sales. EDIT: I've been trying to get my hands on this for 2 years/2 RSDs. This is a top priority reissue. I wish they would reissue the BBC comp and The Menace (with all the bonus tracks) down the line.
  12. At my store, the coloured vinyl (forget which variant, probably whatever's the indie exclusive) was 40 CAD. Not sure if it's worth it despite the heavy vinyl and heavy gatefold doing no favours as far as price is concerned.
  13. Did they go "But the exclusive screenprint?" because you can't possibly pretend that it's not exclusive to your edition. Unless they're lying about that too.
  14. I saw a copy at my local store for 40 CAD though the sticker didn't indicate die-hard or what colour it was so I didn't buy it. If I'm going to have to pay that much for this album, it damn well better be the purple glitter variant or something other than standard black.
  15. My local store in Canada had a few copies of this red edition (the 7" is black) but me and at least one other person bought copies and that was 2 hours or so ago. so it will sell out fast, maybe even tonight. Toronto peeps who didn't pre order this and aren't going to the show, grab your copies now.
  16. My mind is blown. 17 years after the fact, I realize 100 Broken Windows is actually a sophomore effort! Anyways, I'll buy that lp reissue without hesitation.
  17. Wow there's now twice as many things I'm interested in as there was like a day or two ago. Daedelus being on the top of the list now
  18. Not much that interests me, just two thing that I might buy: Autumn Defense – Circles LP (Underrated Wilco side-project. Would have preferred The Green Hour). Xiu Xiu – A Promise LP + 7” (180 gram color vinyl with download and bonus tracks). EDIT: I'll throw in Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Some Loud Thunder 10th Anniversary Reissue LP especially if it's at a reasonable price seeing as there's no bells and whistles to this other than a download card for what amounts to a live EP comp. I'd love to own those A Certain Ratios but I'm guessing they'll be 40 bucks each. Blue Oyster Cult - Rarities Vol. 1 seems interesting too.
  19. Man that sucks. I've liked his guitar work and tunes since the early Not Not Fun days.
  20. Reminds me of John Frusciante but with better recording, mixing and wider range of instrumentation. Good stuff.
