GY!BE, DMST, and BSS all releasing albums this year. Thank you Canadian post-rock scene. We don't deserve it.

OtherVagOption reacted to Subdomestic in PO: Broken Social Scene - Hug Of Thunder 2 LP on clear vinyl
Yep, mine was the same. The girl got it from a different room and it was already packaged and bagged with my name on it.
If you're nearby it wouldn't hurt to just stop by and ask. They have a nice office. There's some cool memorabilia up on the walls and an awesome translucent glass thing of the s/t artwork.
Side note - I just found out that June Records has copies of the red pressing of the s/t album. Collection is one step closer to complete ☺

Apparently the cassette has a neat little easter egg too

OtherVagOption reacted to timsimmons in PO: Travis "The Man Who" Numbered Limited Edition Collector's Boxset
Also weird that they didn't put Coming Around on the second LP. They thought those b-sides were better than an A side? OK, I guess.
Love all those covers though.

Pre-Order Link
This has been one of my white whale for a while. I was thinking maybe I would have had to wait another 2 years (when the album turns 20) to get a repress or boxset of this kind but I'm glad it's here early. Although I wasn't looking for something as fancy as this (a standard repress would have sufficed) for GBP50 ($84USD after S&H) this isn't too bad.
The Man Who collectors box set containing the following;
1 x Vinyl The Man Who (Full Album Version)
1 x Vinyl The Man Who B Sides (favorites as chosen by the band)
1 x CD The Man Who (Full Album)
1 x CD The Man Who B Sides (All The Man Who B Sides including ‘Baby One More Time’ & hit single ‘Coming Around’)
1 x Artcard signed by the band
1 x The Man Who 58 Page Commemorative Photo Newspaper
Already pre-ordered with glee.
EDIT:
The original numbered version sold out yesterday in 12 hours. The site now has a non-number version available for pre-order, at the same price (GBP50). For those who missed the news or thought too long yesterday, look no further:

I've been really digging on Seasurfer. Think some folks in here will enjoy it. Nice mix of shoegaze, punk and dream pop.

The two white books in this boxset are the coolest pieces of music memorabilia that I own. They are fucking incredible.
The spine of the inside sleeve that actually houses art and the records matches the spine of AMSP boxset perfectly.
I'm in love.

Agreed. Still, pretty easy last name to troll so I could see if that's where he's coming from. I want him and Panda Bear from Animal Collective and Solar Bears do a Care Bears cover album before 2019.

Weird, picked up a copy for 49.99 CAD up here (Rotate This had it for 44.99 but when I saw it in SB I didn't want to risk it...) but both had Made In EU on the barcode. Guess we got the UK version?

OtherVagOption reacted to itsgoodtobefree in PO - Chris Bell - I Am the Cosmos (transluscent)
Omnivore is also releasing a 6xLP box set called "The Complete Chris Bell" sometime this year for those who are interested.
I wish they would use a better pressing plant. My copies of Big Star Complete Third are noisy.

OtherVagOption reacted to TheGhostOfRandySavage in PO Now: Beach House - B-Sides and Rarities
That's a bummer. Mine had a tiny bit of noise in a couple spots, but nothing crazy an not all the way through. Hope you get a nice pressing if you get a replacement.
Pretty terrific though. My thoughts on Beach House for the most part anymore though are, "Yup, sounds like Beach House."

OtherVagOption reacted to highfives in PO: Radiohead - OK Computer - oknotok
My only complaint with HTTT is it's a little long at the end. The band even acknowledge it and say they should've trimmed it. Those last 3-4 songs aren't bad but after Punch Up it kinda falls flat for me.
I'm surprised everyone shits on amnesiac so much. I consider it the other half of Kid A, almost the darker half. Life in a glass house alone ranks it higher than AMSP for me.

OtherVagOption reacted to elitehole in PO: Radiohead - OK Computer - oknotok
I had the Creep CD single, then bought The Bends, then Pablo Honey. I stopped buying new stuff from OK Computer on, but The Bends has always stayed on high rotation. I loved spinning this last night, and do wonder why I waited so long to give it a go. I think armadillo01 really nailed it with their comment above about an initial perception of bloat and pomposity. Maybe I should revisit Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness next

OtherVagOption got a reaction from elitehole in PO: Radiohead - OK Computer - oknotok
I can totally see why some, especially early 90s alt-rock fans, would spin OK Computer a few times, decide it had too much Pink Floyd bloat and pomposity, and stop following the band much after that. They'd have done the same with The Smashing Pumpkins a year or two later.
Frankly I think The Bends and Kid A are greater albums than OK Computer (although that's maybe because I played OC out during my teens to the point where I got sick of it).
Even now, the third disc is the major reason why I bought a blue copy since those b-sides are great and I'm stoked about the three archived songs, too. If this was merely a remaster with a limited colour run I would maybe think twice about purchasing it, even though I've never owned it on vinyl.

Hey guys,
Just a heads up, In Decay is now shipping! If you've got an order containing Iteration and In Decay, these will go out today and tomorrow.
In other news, Matt Dear just dropped a brand new single, "Modafinil Blues."
