Crazy to think this was all 25 years ago. Some highlights: First time seeing them was opening for Korn in '96 on the Life Is Peachy tour. Them opening for Deftones along with Will Haven in '97 was stacked killer bill. The 'Ladies Night In Cambodia' tour in '98 is probably my overall favorite - that show was an absolute blast. In '99 they were doing promo for Significant Other and were going to play on a rooftop of a local independent record store. They got shut down by the city and an impromptu first-come-first-served free show was announced 13 miles away at a 400 capacity club - that was a crazy day. The last show I saw was the Napster free show in '00 - all barriers were removed from the stage and they had a 20 foot tall chain-link fence separating them and the crowd - it went as you might imagine... They were super-accessible and would hang out and talk before and after the shows all the time. Oh, and the early Three Dollar Bill shows were really only $3 (plus $1.50 service fee)

Complete opposite for me.  I kinda dug it on first listen and then progressively hated it more each time.  I’m just so sick of the vague lyrics especially while Matt tries to sound like everything they write is so deep & meaningful.

Compliance is hot trash.  WSD is ok.  But it’s Muse so they’ll find a way into my wallet.  They always do just enough to keep me invested in them.

But Christ, Matt Bellamy needs a donkey kick to the head so he gets back to writing intelligent lyrics again.

Who tf still uses the word “clique”?

Don't hold your breath.  I share your sentiment, but I wouldn't expect anything.  Maybe someday.  None of the band members live in the same cities or states haha.  Especially with Shy, Low already cranking out the follow-up to Snake.

Dude you buy both!!!  Unless you're meaning the "Stella Mori" represses, but even then... get both!  I'm so happy they finally pressed the first full-length.  I love old I Hear Sirens.

For real when they say “A DECADE OF NOTHING” I at least thought we’d get some demos or relevant studio stuff from over the years.  And yeah being that it was /1000 there wasn’t much time to literally research all the shit needed to maybe figure out what this was inspired by.

Rereading the initial post/description I realize I did a disservice assuming anything but so did everyone lol.

I don’t think I’ll be opening mine when it arrives. Might sell it after a while. They’re one of my top fav bands, but the fact that this was, arguably, sneakily worded as a special album of unreleased music… “Well they never said it was new songs!!” Fair enough, but $60 is $60 that I could have spent on many other things. We waited like 7 months to get a vinyl with “nothing” on it lol.

Similar boat. I’ve only heard Devotion (sometime in 2009?) and wasn’t into it. Later checked out Depression Cherry in 2016-2017 and again kind of fell off the wagon. I decided to relisten and am blown away by this.

I was trying to get through  all of the albums I hadn’t heard, Teen Dream is great. I fell asleep during 7 haha so I’ll listen to that tonight.

Grivo scratches that itch of gloom/ doom that comes into my life or resurfaces every now and again.  Not an every day band for sure. They're not as downtempo as True Widow....(is any other band, as in s l o w w w w?) but there's some intersection in the music to my ears. Different vocal styles of course.

Pretty sure you and my IRL friend would get along very well because we’re basically this haha.   The tree trunk to our musical connection is the same but branches go in far different directions typically.

I can understand if someone can’t get into Grivo.  Feels like an all or nothing type of band.  Those warm moody tones hit the spot so perfectly for me so I can gobble it all up.  But if it doesn’t click for you then there’s basically zero variety in their two albums.

I haven’t had an album etch itself in my brain in a while quite like the new Grivo.  Wasn’t sure about it relative to Elude at first but I’ve literally listened to it at minimum once a day since release.  They craft such an incredible vibe with their music.  Impossible to get sick of.

So jealous of the ease to which you get to see TD haha.  Tell them to tour!  We get SOM with Slow Crush so I’m pretty jacked for that.  Wish we were getting Deserta tho.  They’re like the dreamy Grivo in the way they craft the vibes they do.  All their new songs are 🔥 so far.
