  1. Congress authors bills to be voted on. A majority is required for a bill to become a law. Our local representatives represent our voice in this voting process, drafting legislation or voting with the interest of his or her constituents in mind. In theory anyway. This isn't really how it works today but we sort of pretend it does and keep voting for the same idiots because it is simpler than sitting down and reading about stuff. Between crippling debt and keeping up with the lives of housewives south of the mason dixon there isn't time for critical thinking.

When Presidents can't get congress to do shit, or just generally don't want to wait they can take Executive Action. These actions are much more limited in what they can do than laws and can easily be replaced by the next president. All Presidents use them and they usually fall somewhere between "spiteful action to make congress look stupid" and "I can score political points with my base by passing something and making it seem more effective or permanent than it is."

  2. Listen man. I don't really like to be negative about this stuff like this because it takes a lot of guts to commit to your artistic vision and share it with the world. That said, as an interaction designer I can't, in good conscious, not chime in here. I think you’ve got an error in your algorithm/platform.

I get why you would think to start with the Private/Personal Understander/Organizer/Developer’s user type, but you should really focus on the Public/Inter-personal Sharer/Contractor/Transactor first. It may be counterintuitive, as your GPHE algorithm is ultimately designed for (and is more powerful when utilised by)the general public but trust me; you are going to gain the most traction by targeting [Main Category 2] first.

Essentially the end goal for most contemporary platforms is to monetize. In order to replace or otherwise undermine the value proposition of existing networks and platforms (and algorithms contained therein) you are going to need focus on making the business case for GPHE algorithm’s-platform’s/project’s online currency. Until you’ve done that it will be very difficult to scale your data infrastructure to reach all of [Main Category 1] without facing significant competition from existing platforms.

However, if you lead by targeting Public/Inter-personal Sharer/Contractor/Transactor first, you mitigate this issue and can scale exponentially faster. It might not be the way you’ve envisioned it but I’ve worked with a number of platforms like this (though not exactly like this, obviously) and I think this is your best bet.

    I dunno. My two cents.

  3. Yo T, if you want to grab coffee when you come up to look for houses I can drive you around some neighborhoods if you want. I'm still learning the city so it helps me too.

I found it helpful when I was looking for neighborhoods. Buddy took me around.

I have friend who did temp to hire at Microsoft. I'll ask him if he has any pointers of whatever. What is your role?

i put up with a year of shit from crybabies and assholes who told me i was a poor, uneducated white supremacist piece of shit and that there was no way in hell trump would win. well, guess what. they were wrong.

I would never call you a white supremacist! I find the frequency of that accusation abhorrent.

The other two though... eh, I can see it.

  5. It's beer, so there isn't a RIGHT answer but how old was your Pliny? Pliny falls off pretty fast. Anything over four weeks is pushing it I think. To me what made Pliny special was the clarity and how it still had a sort of delicate approach relative to many East Coast bruisers. Delicate may not be the right word, but for my money, it's more fun to drink than a lot of the super sought after stuff. All these new IPAs that drink like milkshakes or lattes are crazy to me

Thanks! It's just weird how hard it is to find a job, when I have good references and had a good GPA coming out - them's the times I guess! And civil engineering (the boring one). Detroit is good for that, but trying to make it out of Michigan!

It'll be nice to get out from under the thumb of debt I bet :) Although expensive and can be a pain, I find it fun working on that sort of thing, as far as decorating/improving.

You may already know or be doing this but having just gone through the process I can say that internal referrals seem to be the best bet. Response and follow-ups were just generally better and a lot of recruiters or hiring managers told me they get enough applicants through referrals that they rarely do anything with the generals unless they really have a stand-out. In fact, a lot of employees said it was literally impossible to get in the door without an internal referral, even when the people in charge of that process said otherwise.

This is the design industry, so not engineering, but possibly some parallels. It can be frustrating. Good luck!
