Facedown Records is pressing My Epic's debut album on vinyl for the first time. It's a double LP on cloudy clear vinyl with a gatefold jacket and limited to 300 copies.

The problem is that this is the most selfish, self-centered, self-important and self-gratifying way you could possibly look at this. The fact that it was limited shouldn't have been a selling point for anybody. It seems like the limitation was more of a fact of "we can afford to manufacture 2000 copies of this set with no prior knowledge of how many we can sell" and NOT that you were supposed to be comforted by the idea that you are 1 of a potential 2000 individuals who own a copy of this numbered item and are now part of this exclusive club and that the exclusivity itself should carry some sort of actual value or that it should be valued by the purchaser. That's baby shit. That's vinyl bubble and collector-mentality shit.
 
Here we have a band whose merch provider fucked up. They saw then that the demand goes WELL beyond the 2000 units. To make their fans happy AND maybe make a bit more money off of a body of work that is a). deeply appreciated by so many b). specialized on a format that has gained popularity and exists in a niche market wherein the value of out of print materials sky-rockets and the scarcity forces fans to choose between nothing and a huge premium to enjoy the product, they press more copies without numbers.
 
Why shouldn't an album be pressed in the numbers to satisfy the whole or at least the majority of the fanbase who prefer the specified format?
 
This is the most self-centered problem to have with a vinyl record pressing. They're making more because bands like to sell albums. The vinyl format, especially a special packaging set of 4 LP's is very difficult to have pressed and to afford the production on. So they got the opportunity to see that they could sell more. So they're making more. GOOD!

I've given it a few repeated listens but I'm not warming up to it. At least not as quickly as 1989. It feels like a forced effort to be indie pop but not really getting it. And the overuse of effects & auto-tune in some spots just grinds my gears. 

Ya I was going to post the slip cover the other day but forgot. I'm not that upset about it being listed as a "separate cover" and just being a slip, I get it. What irked me is that the slip only has the Side B songs listed on it and not Side A. With that logic, you'd at least expect the slip to go high enough on the back of the actual cover to hide the original cover "Side B" song listing, but no, it sits below, so with the slip on, you get Side A listing, Side B listing, then Side B song listing again (slip cover). It just looks poorly designed.

I didn't see anything about a variant of this on the posts they have been making. Just clothes and vinyl figures, where did you see about the pressing?
 
I am going to the Lolla show that Friday but wasn't able to score tickets to the metro show unfortunately, so I will be down there, If they let me get two, I'll snag one for ya.
 
 

Rise is releasing this. There's only the Purple vinyl (5,000 copy run) on the KP merchnow. I think it's cheaper and more limited colors on the KP website.

Most likely, the more limited Yellow meant to say "Indie Exclusive Retail". (e.g. Order at Bullmoose or other select retailers and get yellow). Primary retail (meaning Rise's MerchNow site, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other big distributors) will most likely get purple.

Zac Cooper left nice comments/hints on the Blink 182 merch guy's page about wanting the gold variant to keep his collection complete. And he ended up with one. It wasn't as "random" as you'd think.
