Yes. That didn't stop me from dropping $55 at Other Music today. I went for the Joy Formidable LP but ended up with a good chunk of used stuff. Someone had traded in a collection of 12"s, and then someone else had traded in a collection of 80's Wax Trax!-y stuff that I couldn't resist: The Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law LP
    Duran Duran - I don't want your love - UK etched 12" (2.99!)
Duran Duran - Notorious (Latin Rascals Remix) - US 12"
Revolting Cocks - Big Sexy Land - US LP
Revolting Cocks - You Goddamned Son Of A Bitch - US 2xLP
Revolting Cocks - Beers, Steers & Queers (Remixes) - US 12"
There were also other RevCo 12"s (which I already had), some great 4AD stuff, the first two Lard LPs (which were kind of pricey at $19.99 each), a slew of UK Siouxsie and the Banshees LPs, etc, all in amazing condition. But I had to draw the line somewhere.
That said, if you're in the area, it's worth checking out.

It's a damn shame that Superdrag's Head Trip In Every Key has never gotten a vinyl pressing.

This is the worst possible outlook to have on vinyl. This makes it a complete shit show. Some people are going to face the disappointment of having paid way too much for a record only for it to be repressed soon after. That's life. There will always be indicators on presses to prove what press they are from so most early presses can retain most of their value on the second hand market. It's selfish and childish to believe that destroying someone's sense of monetary value for their records ever matters when it comes time to repress said record. Records are for listening. They make more than one so that more than one person can listen to it. Its that simple. Fuck "rare" and fuck "valuable."

i'm more perturbed by the people who act smug about it as if they have this vast knowledge about music and band is irrelevant only because they've never heard of them. as if it's insulting their musical intelligence by having some band they don't know headline.

it's like the "who the fuck is Paul Mccartney" of 2013.

it also reminds me of when i told my friend "Hey you wanna go see Bob Mould do "copper blue" for free. and his words were "who the fuck is bob mould and  what is copper blue? meanwhile he's wearing a fucking HUSKER DU shirt. THose kind of people.

Gave it a listen yesterday and I love it. Sure, it doesn't beat The Big Roar, but that's pretty much to be expected. It's one hell of a rocker regardless.

Artwork looks like they are trying to relive the Coming Up days. Admitedly, I'm a fan of that era. Sci-fi Lullabies, Coming Up, and Head Music were great albums.

I would hate to be with some of you when you're grocery shopping.  You be be yelling at every item you picked up because the price is so much higher than the cost of production.

I saw RIchard Marx at Radio City Music Hall with my Mom. Her friend dropped out at the last second. He came out acting tough saying "This old building is nice and all, but what do you say we shake it up a bit!" I busted out laughing and the ladies all around me told me to shut up. It was awful, I mean nightmare awful. I won National Son of the Year honors thanks to that night but good God I'm still scarred.

Does the hourly wage paid to all employees who worked on this reissue not factor into the cost of doing business anymore?
And since when did a profit of $10K become so astronomical?

So when did this project go into motion. Sometime in October? So from October to March its about 5 months. A $10K profit( subtract employee wages) over 5 months of working on this reissue does not cry "rape" at all.
I guess owning a business and trying to turn a profit is no longer the American way. The new business model is Break Even and nothing more.

And it just so happens that this reissue is selling really well. But what about all the other slower selling records that sit around for months or years. What if SRC only sold 500 copies? Then they have to sit and wait to turn a profit as they hope the rest sell over time.

I know this argument is just going around in circles but I'm willing to bet that nobody here would be willing to invest $10-$15K on a project if they only had the potential to make $1-$5K profit. I think $10K is a very reasonable profit margin for a company who put up $12+K upfront on top of whatever it cost to employ people to complete this project. Remember, these weren't sold prior to production. So this release could've been a flop and SRC would be sitting on a pile of records.

Now as requested earlier..... I am going to kindly fuck off.
