Pretty sure this topic comes up every 2 pages of this thread. Not owning a bangin' system (can't afford one, would rather spend more dough on music quantity, or don't give a shit) doesn't mean that you have a lesser appreciation for the vinyl format. Some are audiophiles and want to bring the recording session to their living room, some want to hold a good record, spin it and feel more connected to the artist by experiencing them though a physical/audio medium, many seek the feeling of ownership or stock in a band by hording everything they've released (ending up with more variations of releases than the band members themselves own) and the rest buy records to know they have it, can visualize that they have it and pull it out when the time, mood and situation is right. I'm not one to prefer quantity over quality (whether than means set-up wise or pressing wise). If you're pleased, it's good enough. Organize your setup after what pleases you, not what pleases a message board.

^haha case in point. A good rule of thumb is if it's being hyped up without any explanation of what it is, it's because nobody would give a shit if they just went out and told everyone.

nice man. to be honest, it sounds like you'd be tickled with a small fender tube combo. you can usually find the hot rod series or the blues series for good prices in pawn shops, GC, or even on craigslist. there are just so many of them out there. They aren't going to give you a crystal clear sound (unless you go for a 410 model), but they consitently sound awesome. they are easy to find parts for, and they are easy to repair. generally speaking, you can never go wrong with a fender tube amp.

amnstpls, let me get back to you. I am on a government funded grant and I want to see how the fiscal cliff stuff goes before I make a big purchase. Until then I am just messing around on craigslist trying to find a cool toy for a couple hundred or a trade of something I don't want. It probably won't end up in a purchase.
 
As for what sound I like, you can look at my list and see what I'm into. If I pick up the guitar, I play Gaslight, Teenage Bottlerocket, the Clash, etc. The highest level I ever see myself playing at would be a couple dudes jamming in a garage or basement with no one listening. Never in clubs or anything.

I believe it is a husband/wife. I paid them for two LP's 3 weeks ago, still haven't shipped it. He said he did, and that it's just the holidays. Funny, because I have ordered records from the east coast (I'm in Cali) as recently as the 9th of this month and I already have them in my hands. Refuses to give a tracking number. Thankfully I didn't pay as a gift like he asked me to.

how can you acknowledge that it is subjective and then, in the same breath, say that you haven't heard any legitimate reasons why it is good? isn't "I think it sounds cool" a legitimate reason? that's the only reason I've ever used to justify why I like a record. imagine that...
this is the reason why above it was said that it is a waste of time to try to reason with you on this. you've made up your mind that it sucks. obviously you are in the majority on that one too.
and yes, many people are stoked "just because it's Blink." given what they have been through, this is a valid reason too. the possibility of a reunion never seemed realistic, and so any output from them is worth being excited over. I would have been happy to listen to a recording of mark and tom having a farting contest for all I care. these dudes just make me happy.

as of right now, the cd is selling for much more than any variant. bet nobody saw that coming ha!
