I know, that's exactly what I was thinking.  Spartan is running that Christmas sale right now which equates to free shipping.  I figured this would be a good time to bite on this record but I really wanted to see all my color options.  That color in color in color sounds the best on paper but you know how these types of things can turn out.

Yeah, its a classic bait and switch. They encouraged us to preorder directly through Warner's site to receive an "exclusive" color vinyl. Now if you go to the same preorder page, there is no mention of anything being exclusive to Warner's store. I don't even care that other people have the colored version, I'm pissed off I wasted my money on inflated, ridiculous shipping. I could have went and bought this at my local store or from an online retailer with free shipping. Stipid.

I had a meeting I had to make this afternoon but I was able to spin about half of it earlier.
The pressing looks great, and more importantly - sounds great. Really quiet surfaces which goes a long way with what is mostly acoustic material. Of course the SQ is gonna vary from track to track being a comp and all, there really isn't a lot of consistency in that regard due to different production styles and locations, gear, etc. but the records job is to present these in the best manner possible and given the task at hand, it succeeds and excels with flying colors.

Yeah, it's always possible. There are overs and unders for every variant of every pressing. We never put the full amount up for sale initially in any pre-order because we don't know if we'll actually get the full amount in from the plant (it's usually dead on the money or within a handful, but over and under runs do happen — happened with Have Mercy's clear w/ black smoke variant if you recall). SO yeah, it could happen, but at the time of my writing this, they're all spoken for and I don't expect anything to pop up. The one that We refunded this Gabe flipper guy for we'll hold onto in the event that someone's copy gets damaged in shipping.
 
With all that said, we're thinking about using this feature more where when we announce a new album, we immediately put it up in the store as coming soon. This way, if anyone wants to be notified the minute the pre-order goes live, you can then choose to do so in advance and don't have to worry about missing anything (other than an email haha). I think we'll start doing this with our next couple albums and see how it goes.

Oh wow, that's pretty awesome!  Did you happen to read the 3rd question down in the Q&A section?  Sounds  to me like somebody is trying to protect his/her lucrative business practice. 

That reminds me of when some friends and I helped make a music video a few years ago, and when everything was finished the band uploaded it to spankwire, xvideos, tube8, xnxx, etc. hahaha

And besides, what benefit would you possibly gain from seeing the condition of his records or the package they came in?  Will it help you psyche yourself up, and prepare for a mental breakdown over a bent corner of your own?  His records could have arrived in a box that was trampled and borderline split in half -- that has zero effect on the records you'll be receiving.  If you guys were neighbors or something, I could see the question being appropriate.  But you're asking a dude to take photos of a damaged mailer that will have 0% significance to the mailer you'll be receiving.
 
 
While I will say that the majority of this board does indeed get their proverbial panties in a bunch over very trivial affairs, their annoyance with you[r posts] is justified.  Honestly, bud, it's a record.  It's a circular piece of plastic housed in a cardboard sleeve, containing music that you know and presumably love.  It's not a heart transplant.  If a corner is dinged in transit, who cares?  Glancing at your collection, you're obviously new to the vinyl game... so you'll eventually figure it out.  But shit happens.  If you spend "good money" (read: $26 PPD) on a record and it arrives with a corner bend, contact Travis.  He'll be glad to roll his eyes and send you a replacement jacket.
 
But please.  Don't assume or imply that the rest of us don't "keep [our] collection looking nice", or that we don't "take good care of [our] shit".  As far as new releases go, vinyl is the most expensive format with very few exceptions.  And it's easily the medium which requires the most upkeep.  And this is a community based on that medium.  To suggest that you're above anyone else - or different from anyone else - because you take care of your music is bullshit.  A quarter of this board is probably more OCD than you with their record protection, categorization, and maintenance.
 
So the tl;dr version: you're annoying because you care way too much about corner dings or minimal transit damage.  Actually, not even that, but the potential of a corner ding or transit damage.  And that's pathetic.  Mellow out and realize that there's a ~95% chance your records will show up in flawless condition.  And that even if the very tip of all four of your Juturna's corners aren't angled at a perfect 90°, no one will give a shit.  It doesn't make you a lesser fan of the band.  It doesn't detract value from your collection.  And it surely has zero effect on how your album will sound.
 
Fuck.

Finally!  Just grabbed a copy of Juturna.  I've been stocking this webpage for days and I'm finding it hard to believe that it actually paid off.  I was begging to think I would be waiting on the next pressing.  So glad to land this orange marble color....I think it's one of the cooler variants.  

Thought some of you might like to know that at the show in CT last night, after Max Bemis was done, Matt went across the parking lot to the Outer Space where they were doing an open mic night. He played a few New Amsterdams classics (Hover Near Fame, My Old Man had a Pistol, and From California") after that, he started taking requests.

Also - Bemis brought Pryor on stage for his encore, and covered Campfire Kansas. It was amazing. He also told a pretty funny story about how when he was 14 he asked for a get up kids CD for hannukah, so this was surreal for him.,,

Yes, was just getting ready to share this.  Judging by the lack of info on the 10" releases being pressed separately, I think I might just order this full length for now and cancel my other order.  I'm sure these will all be available for a decent amount of time as they are released.  I would love to see some pressing numbers/info.  Considering Sumerian is saying the 10"s are coming out LATER next year, I just don't trust hanging onto that preorder for ever.
