PO: The Swellers- The Light Under Closed Doors

Recommended Posts

The Swellers return reinvigorated on their No Sleep Records debut, which is packed with highly memorable tracks like “Should,” “Becoming Self-Aware,” “High/Low” and “Big Hearts,” that speak directly to fans with an open heart about growing up, learning from your mistakes and moving forward, something the band has a lot of experience with lately.

Produced by The Swellers and recorded by Marc Hudson (Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday) at Rancho Recordo in Fenton, MI and with Mark Michalik (Into It. Over It., Fireworks) in Chicago, IL, The Light Under Closed Doors is a raw collection of ten punk rock sing-alongs that are filled with driving rhythm and infectious choruses. The band’s follow-up to 2012’s EP, Running Out Of Places To Go, strips the band down to their core with a sound that’s pure and honest.

It just surprises me that Balance can sell more records in probably two hours than this whole pressing is? On the same label too?

The same could be said about any two bands on any label. Suppose Lady Gaga and Gaslight Anthem are on the same label. Would they sell the same amount of records? For a better comparison, Title Fight and Broadway Calls were both on SideOneDummy, and I'm pretty sure Title Fight sold more copies of their LPs in pre-order than Broadway Calls did overall. Some bands have more fans for better or worse.

First example is totally off because the fanbases are completely different. The second one is a far bigger difference in popularity than this situation. Well, at least from what I think.

I was using your example of two bands on the same label. Both fanbases contain people last time I checked. Some people like Gaslight Anthem and Lady Gaga, I haven't taken a poll so I wouldn't know the exact percentage but Ill take it people mostly got the point.

Chris also tweeted last night that the next sub subscription is shipping out...I'm assuming with these, but he also said the State Faults LP will be in there...which is sweet cause its like 3 weeks early...

Also, for the subscribers, I believe their LP Running Out of Places To Go is coming as part of the Sub as well...
