Discussion Regarding Posting Guidelines/Ground Rules

I wish a mod would come in and discuss with us. Dave has listed out some of our concerns.

Sorry, I got called in on my rest day so I'm monitoring posts but haven't had a chance to post. Anything I say below is from my perspective alone and I'm not speaking for any of the admins.

Gif-trolling, as we'll call it, got to a point of ridiculousness. Of course we're not going to ban someone for posting a reaction gif to a comment, and the only person who got a temporary suspension was Randy Savage- Dude, you absolutely went overboard with it and you have multiple accounts. That timeout should have stopped you, but low and behold, it just made others jump in. Aside from that, the only people who have been warned or banned were that racist guy and the guy who went after p1nkscar3.

When there's issues that take place outside of the board there's only so much we can do, more often then not people involved are talked to directly and usually users don't want to escalate situations and move on. Often times parties not involved keep bringing these situations up and it looks like nobody did anything about them. Not true. If you feel like you weren't paid attention after something like this happened to you then PM me or Juan, we're humans too and won't just ignore you.

The locking/unlocking for threads is a communication issue which I agree needs to be worked on and we'll pay more attention to that. I know it's frustrating.

The porn threads have been talked about before, when I started the first boobies thread (prior to being a mod) it wasn't intended for nudity. Just bikinis and whatnot, when I took this position I deleted the thread because it seemed like more people disliked it than liked it. Boy was I wrong and I caught a ton of heat for that. Perhaps this is something the boards should vote on.

I think there's are great suggestions and you guys are posting valuable opinions. Have to split right now but I'll check back soon.

I've admitted multiple times in multiple threads including this one that the wrestling thing was overboard and that it won't happen again. Sorry, "dude" but you need to chill out on me for a little bit. I get that I had been reported a lot in that thread, but since the wrestling thing I toned it down a LOT. I tried to keep the last time you warned me private, because you PM'ed me. But seriously, you're getting out of hand. Even with my second account I didn't troll that fucking thread with .gifs like I had, because, as I said a verbal warning would have stopped me anyway.

I have two accounts because I got banned for a week without any warning for posting annoying .gifs, haven't used the other one since being unbanned.

How is it my fault that other people jumped in? I think that's what you've been on my ass about lately and I'm sick of it.

 

EDIT: I even tried to help people out in that stupid thread toward the end, and then just jumped ship entirely.

I agree with what Rambo said, I wasn't going to address the hatred/tension toward me, and I still won't go into it.

But I have been talked to and I understand why people were upset with me. I have apologized to all parties and there is more to the story than most people know. What happened, happened and while I don't want to simple say "bury the hatchet" the only people that bring it up, were my involved and do not know not sides of the story.

I'm not a saint, I don't expect to be treated as such. But if you're going to suggest that weeks (months?) from the aftermath that I get banned for an issue that was already handled, it's not appropriate.

Things good have been handled better on all ends, stop kicking up dust.

I enjoy this place and I don't need to be repeatedly crucified.

Did Randy Savage have more than one account?  I didn't think he did.  I know who Hulk Hogan was and it wasn't Randy. Oops, nevermind.

Whoa, really?  I must have missed the Savage GIF fest / suspension.  Did it go down in the Blink-182 thread?  As amusing as that thread was / is, I can only handle so much of it in one sitting.  I like to check in every now and then, but definitely don't follow it consistently.

 

Re: porn threads... I think the Boob thread was locked on the "old" VC (Proboards) because it violated TOS?  I seem to recall images being removed and replaced with auto-generated text, if the content was too explicit.  (Though this wasn't exclusive to lady bits – there was a thread for "worst album art" or something similar, and half the entries were censored.)  When the forums switched over to this host, though, it gained certain liberties and those "appreciation" threads were opened back up.  That's how I remember it, anyway.

 

But regardless, I agree with what you just said: it's entirely possibly for guys to appreciate female anatomy without nudity.  And once everyone realized that nudity was no longer censored at VC, I think the Boob thread exploded and became a catch-all for female anatomy.  It definitely is a softcore porn thread at this point.  This isn't me saying that it should be removed, nor am I saying that it should remain untouched.  Just saying that it's quite possibly for guys to ogle chests without them being bare, which was actually the basis of the thread way back when.

My 2 cents on the nudity threads.

 

I won't lie I'll check out the lady bits threads when they get updated.  What can I say when I come across a link titled "Boobs" I just can't say no to clicking on it.  In reality though those threads add nothing here or give me any incentive to come back. 

 

I would say that the best scenario is to keep the boards as work / under age / female friendly as possible.

The original nudes thread way back when were on Proboards got shut down b/c they deemed it violating TOS. So, just like you guessed Derek.

 

We keep forgetting that a lot of people browsing these boards may be under age and/or doing so at work. So the NSFW has to be kept in mind and also to not get in trouble.
