smeepo
Shelbs, I fully understand why you're disappointed. While I enjoy this more serious take, I hope that they have some faster and heavier songs like their prior releases.
Bladewillisisdead
Really disappointed with both songs so far Ditto. Band seems to have peaked with My Crass Patch.
museummouth
That song sounds like the guitarist just learned how to play like a week ago rynflnnry and bigbruise
batnoises
to each their own I guess, I really dig 'But' and like the slower pace.
Shelby
I think Shit Twins went to their head and they made them all slow like that on this album... except with lyrics that don't evoke the same emotion.
dvv
The ending bridge of this new song is amazing.
Ballisticgoat
Unlike the first song this second song isn't doing a whole lot for me, I think it's the vocals. I'm open to a slow album but it might take some time to grow on me.
Guest deleted
The new song is quite a bit different than anything else they have released, which I don't think is a bad thing. It reminds me of the songs on the Woman EP and the Cardinal, Cardinal - Distant Lovers EP. I greatly enjoy Dads' heavier tunes, though. This exactly. Sounds similar to Dads' Woman EP and Cardinal, Cardinal, Cardinal's Distant Lovers 7". I like anything Dads puts out.
rynflnnry
yikes. new songs sound like butt. if you're going to write slower songs carried by vox/lyricism, you need to be able to actually sing.
Guest deleted
^^^ Tell that to Stephen Maulkmus.
eshame
new song isn't as good as but or anything they've written previously but still isn't bad. it's not as a big of a departure as everyone is making it out to be. they've always been an emo band. i'm still all over this PO regardless
Shitty Rambo
I really don't get the Dads hate train, everything they've put out has been progressively better then their previous work. They're going in a really cool direction and I expect this album will be their On The Impossible Past. batnoises, stl_ben and corey.
parkinglot
I expect this album will be their On The Impossible Past. Don't you dare. (I know that was not a stylistic comparison, but still, no way).
Shitty Rambo
Don't you dare. (I know that was not a stylistic comparison, but still, no way). Yup, watch! They even have a black and white album cover But honestly, American Radass is only 2 years old. There's no way they would have 100% abandoned that sound. These newer jams have a slower tempo but they're not ballads, this album will have your crazy noodly riffs and over chaotic drum fills. Dads are just maturing and growing into their sound, not jumping into a whole new genre like Gaslight Anthem or something.
Shelby
I really don't get the Dads hate train, everything they've put out has been progressively better then their previous work. In your opinion. This is a message board, we're all sharing our own. Personally, I don't get how being disappointed is "hating". Edit: Saw some other replies and yeah that's a bit of hating
stl_ben
When can I give them my money! But is probably song of the year for me with the "I'll be the tornado that keeps you warm" line alone.
Shelby
A tornado won't keep you warm, it will kill the fucking shit out of you. smeepo, museummouth, jamescandeletta and 2 others

thejesseb
Pretty Good had my favorite Dads songs. New stuff is just kinda meh.
captainaldous
I have never really liked this band, but I am digging the track. I might get this.
smeepo
I have a feeling there will be some exciting songs like the ones on Pretty Good. Coming from Dads, a whole album like this would be a snore. I enjoy this more melodic and pretty side of Dads, but the more upbeat songs are the ones that got me into Dads. stl_ben
So UK/UE pre-order next week. Does anyone know if I can pre-order (from the US) if they have a special international variant, or should I just go ahead and line up a friend there to help me?
