just a normal guy kevin
Yo anyone interested in my red copy of Local Business? PM me or email [email protected]. Would be down to do a trade I had a sealed red copy that I was stuck with for quite a while. Ended up selling it on Discogs for $9.
Parker
Is it me, or is Sickles looking a little Billy Mitchell-ish these days?
gmoney
I loved The Monitor. Everything else these guys I have done, I just can't get into. At all.
sacredheart
I quite enjoy the band, but has there ever been a band that bought into themselves more than them? That press release is so full of itself, which says a lot for a press release. They are a great rock and roll band, they should stop thinking they are more than that. Parker
I feel like if you truly like them, you kinda have to just go with he fact that they're full of themselves to an incredible degree. I mean, any band the names themselves Titus Andronicus and uses the American Civil War as a metaphor for painful, personal toil has to sorta be full of themselves, right? To me, the amazing thing is that more often then not they pull it off. Moglog
southern
yeah, they rule - live shows and press releases are notoriously preachy, but the payoff is worth it.

Full of themselves for naming their band after a literary reference? There's about 5 other bands I can think off the top of my head, plus many more I'm sure, that have done this as well. Eliminator Jr.
I don't really see where that's coming from either. Titus Andronicus is basically just Patrick Stickles, who's a major geek for RocknRoll and history paired with a lot of self hatred and an eating disorder. They've never been taking themselves too seriously on any of their albums, most significantly Local Business. Sure, Monitor is a big scope record, but so down to earth that I totally get the feeling that it's from some dudes from somewhere who just give a fuck. I mean there's still bands like muse out there..

I love the hell out of Muse, but yeah I've always kinda felt like they think their shit don't stink...but man, Matt Bellamy can think he's as badass as he wants to, bc imo he IS. Anywho, yeah they seem down to earth enough to me, and their first album was named after a Seinfeld reference....can't take themselves TOO seriously if they're willing to do that with their debut into the world. Shelby
Stickles is crazy, I love their press releases. Local Business has a song that originated as a tweet from the hospital after getting shocked by something. Definitely full of himself haha

Parker
Full of themselves for naming their band after a literary reference? There's about 5 other bands I can think off the top of my head, plus many more I'm sure, that have done this as well. It's that particular literary reference, that particular Shakespeare play, the hugeness and self-importance implied in the name itself. It's actually kind of perfect for them because the play is an over the top, bloody mess, huge in scope and ambition that doesn't always work.
