azvd Posted February 5, 2016 Share Posted February 5, 2016 I've got mixed feelings. Best songs are up to Tatum's quality standards. Nice melodic hooks and turns, he's a gifted and prolific songwriter. Those songs worked very well when I saw them live back in november and they clicked again when I first listened to the album. But at least 50% of the record sounds like rushed or somewhat less inspired material. Almost like fillers. So I'd say so far (and hopefully I'm jumping a little bit early at this) that the sum of the parts makes Life Of Pause the less inspired record in WN's discography. While there's a lot more going on than the moody 80's-influenced stuff on Nocturne, it still sounds like Wild Nothing. Looking forward to digging in a lot more. Having spent plenty of time with it since the leak each song has its quality moments, even Japanese Alice which I wasnt a fan of at first.
