Eliminator Jr.
Highly unnecessary, to say the least.
dethrock
Although I also think it's stupid, if the idiots want it, let them have it.
VinylGyroid
The VTE is currently just a concept design and sources tell What Hi-Fi? that consumer reaction will influence whether it ever gets made. It's dead before it's even gotten off the ground.
thebilljim
Yeah, this is profoundly fucking dumb.

The Vool
It's dead before it's even gotten off the ground. Don't take that for granted...case example: Crosley! There are enough idiots...

himynameisShane
There is no way this could sound good, is there?
allenh
I would say chance and likelihood are mutually exclusive with this one. There is every chance it will sound amazing but the likelihood is that it won't
Tardcore
Pro-ject is manufacturing the new "high end" Crosley tables. Which would be worse? Pro-ject buys Crosley? Crosley buys Pro-ject?
bossdj26
"Pro-Ject has also made a second version of the VTE that’s fitted with a phono pre-amp and Bluetooth transmitter for playing records through wireless speakers and Bluetooth connected hi-fi systems." Sheesh, imagine how convenient it would be if they could figure out a way to stream music straight from your laptop or phone through wireless speakers? Sidney Crosley
This all gives me a great/horrible idea. I want to create a record player that doesn't actually play records. Instead, it scans the label to find out what music is to be played, and then streams whatever album wirelessly via Tidal or Spotify, and then just pretends to play the record so it looks like you care about vinylz... Sadly I expect there's a market for that, especially in North London with those who favour facial topiary and bicycles that only have one gear
thebilljim
That's evil. That would become the top selling turntable of all time within a year though, you know it would.

Crabwalker
I guess I don't understand he hate. I think the vertical tables like that look cool. I don't know how it sounds, so I can't comment on that. Once it's released if it sounds decent and it plays ok, then who cares.
Guest
Gravity is the main issue. How can something track well, when there is no gravity keeping it down? I'm sure they devise a way, but it is not going to work nearly as well as table laid out horizontal.
hipsterasfolk
I think these personally look rad, but I'll stick w/ my Debut III
