mcm1610
Most people I heard were saying it didn't matter the match up, SJ or Chi out of the west would beat MTL or Phi out of the east.
sgoodcore
wait, brad, you think Laviolette is a better head coach than Quintenville? One has won a Cup and one hasn't so I think that speaks to who is better.

sgoodcore
One has won the Jack Adams award and one hasn't. Every coach in the NHL would take a ring over a Jack Adams in a heartbeat. Further, for me, the award has lost value given Trotz is up for it every year.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
wait, brad, you think Laviolette is a better head coach than Quintenville? One has won a Cup and one hasn't so I think that speaks to who is better. laviolette has missed the playoffs 4 years out of the 7 years he's been a coach before this year. quenneville missed the playoffs only twice in 14 years... sure maybe he didnt win a cup, but year after year he could take a team to the playoffs, he did it for years in st louis... st louis!! laviolette is a good coach, but quenneville is better, in my opinion. mcm1610
Remember too that Ravioli's cup in Carolina was giftwrapped by numerous key opponent injuries, including FIVE starting defensemen on Buffalo's squad. When Rory Fitzpatrick is out in a HUGE PK in the 3rd period of game 7, you're on your last leg.
brad
Every cup winning team is helped by opponent injuries somewhere along the lines, just the nature of the beast.

True, but that team had it gift-wrapped. They were far from the best team on the ice that year. Notice how all their stars go unheard of these days? It was just a perfect path for them. No but that's not what I'm saying either. In this specific case I do not see the coaches being that far apart so I'm using the Cup as the differentiator. That said, I think the coaches are even. I don't feel either is measurably better than the other.
sgoodcore
Looks like the KHL is throwing money at Alex Frolov and Ilya. I would hate to see Fro go but if he thinks he's a 4-5 million dollar player he's got another thing coming.
thesupervillain
Don't know if you guys heard already but it looks like all three CHL leagues (OHL, WHL, QMJHL) are going to be in EA's NHL 11. Via Kotaku
