kjg12590
Someone has a record listed that I would like to get but I always get worried when there isn't a paypal option. Anyone have any luck from here? http://www.gemm.com/
burntwolf
I have but it was a Gemm-approved seller or whatever they call it and had high ratings. I don't remember how paid if it was PayPal or not. The deal went through fine for me. I've only used it that once though for a sealed Best of Babes in Toyland/Kat Bjelland UK lp on red/white vinyl. adamlikesmusic
I've used it a few times. It can be great, I've only bought from Gemm-approved dudes too. Beware of the seller's catalog. I've found some awesome prices, only to realize their catalog hasn't been updated since 2002.
kjg12590
how can you tell if they are approved or not? i dont see anything but i may be overlooking it or the dude is not approved or whatever

jhulud
I've gotten a few items from there. But only approved sellers. Approved sellers have the 'G' green shield thing.
000000
i got my copy of Something About Airplanes off there from an approved seller. no problems at all.
kjg12590
yeah the seller isnt approved or anything so i think, much to my disappointment, that i'm going to hold off for now
deafmx
I've ordered plenty off there. got a Denali s/t on seafoam green from there thanks to a seller checking the color he had instock! lots of good deals, always a good idea to email them ahead of time. best way to tell if a seller is quick to respond and legit. smailtronic
I've gotten two records on GEMM, one from an approved, one from an unapproved. No problems with either purchase.

monstercody
I have literally bought hundreds of records off GEMM. Major label UK stuff ends up being cheaper than ebay. Everything from Iron Maiden 12 inch singles, Bad Brains import singles to Bauhaus lps and Discharge singles, I have never had a problem. I keep to few few rules. First, don't sweat the shield thing, go with the feedback. That only means your payment is guaranteed through GEMM. For it they take up to 15% extra. Direct buying through the seller is fine. Just buy from sellers with 4 or 5 stars seller performance rating. Second, the postage rates are unreal. Try to combine shipping whenever possible by checking what else the seller has to offer. You may be surprised.
hookups96
Is it just me, or are these descriptions very vague? like color, or what pressing it is from. where can i find this information?
monstercody
Most of the time, if it is on color, it will be in the description and they will jack the price because of it. Fire them an email.

You may be surprised. I was going to mention this. I paid with my debit card to a seller in the UK for a few champion and Bane records. Total was around $60 with shipping (ungodly from the UK), but when the transaction was completed my bank account was deducted closer to $70. I asked why the seller lied about the price, and found out gemm tacks on that little fee. Emailing the seller is good, or use the site to find a record, find the seller's contact info and buy off their own website or try to work out a deal to cut gemm out as the middle man. mutinyzine
There's a lot of good shit up for sale at Gemm but the prices can really vary from seller to seller. Make sure you try different searches before you decide which one to get. I've seen the exact same record go for €20 and from another guy for €130. My guess is that a lot of the sellers have no idea of what they're selling so you could probably do a couple of good deals.
mrc
gemm is great. somebody on here found a green apathy and exhaustion for like $8. i think it was on gemm... that was me... i have gotten a lot of good shit for cheap. You just gotta be smart about it. dont be from people with low ratings or outdated listings.

This is why I've stopped checking GEMM, I was like oh my god! We Have The Facts $20! FUCK 2005! Oh my god! NOFX - Timmy The Turtle $5! FUCK 2002! It's just so disappointing. flood
i've bought a few things off there, its better for obscure records that aren't really worth anything, than OMG $100 record for $8... because most of the people just copy their distributors release list into the system... and i can tell you places like mordam seemlingly never clear out the OOP releases
melikecheese
yes, I love Gemm, I have a few sellers I follow and watch as the update their catalog, can find some great items on the site.
dante3000
I just bought a ton of Saul Williams records on their and everything went well. Like others have said, it's a good place to find obscure records that may not be worth a ton. Though I have found the occasional popular record there for a little below average.
