mcpherson123
That sucks. I wasn't even able to put one on hold! EDIT: Never mind. I just called a couple minutes ago and they had it in stock and held one copy for me for 24 hrs. Sex!
chubbler108
I'm thinking about buying that set at SRC, but I want to know if it is any different from just buying the records individually.
gmoney
You guys know the HT version will be online right?
mcpherson123
Yes, but if I get it in the store, I can use my hot cash and not have to ship it. BAM!

Derek™
I just like the idea of not having to worry about securing a copy online. And if I can get it a bit cheaper through someone's HT cash and generosity, I'm all about it.
Derek™
Also. Is that someone's arm in the reflection of the vinyl mockup over at Deftones.com?

The Doctor
Well, I just called and some ONE has all 3 on hold at the San Marcos location. That seriously blows. Really wanted the HT variant. WHAT??!!! That ridiculous!! Ok, I'm kinda pissed now...
Tamubro
WHAT??!!! That ridiculous!! Ok, I'm kinda pissed now... I know, right!! It's ok, I really appreciated the heads up. I should have called earlier.
Derek™
I'm pretty much in disbelief that there's < 100 copies left on Deftones' site, having gone up just earlier this morning. Who knew everyone would be in such a rush to shell out $40 for a single LP?

Who knew everyone would be in such a rush to shell out $40 for a single LP? No shit! This is why vinyl prices keep climbing. These morons think there's really something special about the foil and the number? I understand the collectors who wish to acquire every variant to a point but there's no way I'm spending ANY more money on this record. I bought the cassette and my download wouldn't even work. Derek™
The different in vinyl weight will make zero difference in sound quality... and outside of the foil stamp, it doesn't sound like there's anything special about the presentation or packaging. I have the funds to grab it, but it's truly the principle of the matter, for the reason you just outlined. I refuse to be part of the crowd who mumble while reaching for their wallets when the next Deftones LP launches for $60. If it was a far more limited press, or if it was a x2 LP, or even if it was the clear variant... I'd really be wrestling with myself. But it's pretty easy to shrug at this point. More power to anyone who's trying to complete their collection, though - their label really knows how to wring their fans' wallets. I remember thinking Diamond Eyes for $27 PPD was absurd. I'd really be wrestling with myself. This. But not this because we already have people who snagged the 140g black and said it sounds great. Derek™
True enough. If they sound comparably great, I'm not too concerned about what I wind up with. I'm only gunning for the HT variant on behalf of my unexplainable allure for clear wax. Otherwise, I think the "standard" black copies match the album art and packaging better. achillesstand7
