I wanted to pick one up because I am seeing them at the Indpendent in SF in March. You can honestly find some on ebay sometimes, people have no clue what they got and will just label it as a used vintage reel of tape, nevermind the fact that its high speed and there is a studio track sheet to go with it. I'm not quite at liberty to discuss the origin of this tape I am selling but I can tell you it is legit. I have a nearly identical copy of my own. And for those of you who have seen my other posts on this forum, you may remember I have been trying to start up my own label. New music is defintiely in the pipeline, but reissues and otherwise unreleased music is always cool too, if its musically interesting. Some of it will be a bitch to license. But it'll be worth it if I can track down rights owners for some of the lost masters I've found. One I'm particularly fond of is the original master to a 1970's horror lesbo-porn flick. Original spliced edits in the tracks and all. Its been a long journey, and there's still a long ways to go, but I'm hoping the sale of this tape will bring me a bit closer to bringing the label to fruition and a fully operative state where I can actually put out a first release (which will not be one of these vintage gems) In the words of RJ... saxonviolons Posted March 1, 2013 Share Posted March 1, 2013 the only thing i like about that coheed auction is that it makes me feel better for overpaying (a shade under $200) for a copy of it. which was really stupid anyway, but i feel less stupid now. Kinda the opposite for me. Shoulda just dropped $250 on this a couple months ago before it started hitting these $500 tags, didn't make much sense to me. I saw it at the record store for $16 and thought "Wow, I had no idea they still made records, that's really cool!" but didn't buy it because I already bought the CD. He lists things at crazy high prices but he does this so he can entertain best offers. I don't blame him as he has some really good stuff (along with some easier to come by things as well). This kinda stuff rarely comes up for auction for any artist, small time ones you've never heard of. MUCH less often for big names like the Beatles or Floyd or whatever. Only two times I ever saw a Beatles master dub go up. Sgt. pepper Mono from Capitol of Mexico, had to be at least 5 generations down. Not sure if it sold but seller was asking $2000 A copy of Rubber Soul more similar to my Abbey Road copy went for around 4 or 5K just a few months ago. Seller then listed a tape of Abbey Road.
